Chapter 1357 Extra: Aidan and Phoebe (32)
Aidan grabbed his fork and started munching. He wasn't really hungry, but man, he felt this weird sense of satisfaction.
Phoebe was chilling next to him, just watching him eat. For her, that was enough.
"This is the Aidan I dig. Even when he's eating, he's a total snack. If only we could actually be together," she thought, feeling a bit hopeful. Given the current vibe, it wasn't totally out of the question.
Just as Aidan was chowing down, there was a knock on the office door. His assistant popped in. "Mr. Brooks, Byron Mccoy is downstairs to see you."
Phoebe had no clue who Byron was, but she saw Aidan's face change and figured he must know the guy.
"Bring him to the conference room," Aidan said, still eating.
The assistant nodded and left.
Phoebe could totally sense Aidan's mood shift. He was in a decent mood earlier, but now he seemed pretty ticked off.
"Who's Byron?" she asked, genuinely worried.
Aidan didn't see any reason to hide it. "My biological father."
To him, it was just a blood tie.
Phoebe was stunned for a sec before she got it. 'So, Byron is Sienna's husband? The Lowe family thinks Sienna can't sway Aidan, so they send his dad? Why do they think that'll change his mind?'
Aidan didn't care what she was thinking and wasn't about to guess. Byron showing up had killed his appetite. He quickly finished his food, packed up the lunchbox, and told her, "I'll have the driver take you home."
"Okay." Phoebe wanted to stick around and see what was up, but knowing the tension between Aidan and the Lowe family, she decided to keep quiet.
She took the lunchbox from him, a bit nervous. "So, I'll bring you dinner again tomorrow?" She wasn't sure if he'd want her back.
"If I said not to come, would you really stay away?" Aidan chuckled. He hadn't realized Phoebe was kinda fun.
Phoebe was surprised for a moment, then shook her head. "Even if you don't want me to come, I will. Worst case, I'll leave the food at the front desk, and you can have someone grab it."
She was about to leave, but Aidan grabbed her wrist. "No need. Come if you want, as long as it's not a hassle."
"It's no hassle at all." She was more than happy to do it.
After seeing Phoebe off to the elevator and watching her disappear, Aidan's smile vanished, and he turned into a different person. He headed to the conference room.
Inside, Byron was a mess of emotions. He had decided to come see Aidan on his own. Even though he didn't have much say in the Lowe family, he still loved Aidan. He had taken care of him a lot when he was young.
He hadn't expected Aidan to go missing later. Now that they had found him again, everything was different. He was super nervous. He hadn't seen Aidan in years and didn't know if Aidan even remembered him.
Aidan was six when he went missing, so he should have some memories. Byron didn't know why Aidan hadn't come looking for them and was now so hostile.
Byron felt there had to be some issues, but he wasn't sure what they were.
