Chapter 911 Do You Still Keep in Touch with Her?
Dermot saw she was annoyed and chuckled. He handed Evelyn a mixed drink and said, "Give it a try."
Evelyn took a sip and smiled. "Not bad. It tastes more like juice than alcohol."
"Yeah, too much booze isn't good." He made it light on purpose so it wouldn't mess with her sleep.
Evelyn raised an eyebrow but kept sipping.
Dermot made himself a drink and started chatting. "Did the Kyte Group talk to you about the charity fund?"
His team had reached out to Kyte Group, but he wasn't sure if Evelyn was in the loop.
"Yeah, they did," Evelyn nodded.
"How's the little girl's mom? Is she set for surgery?" Dermot continued to ask, mainly wanting to know more about things related to Evelyn. He wasn't really that concerned about others.
"Yep, surgery's scheduled. I'll be doing it myself," Evelyn replied.
Dermot glanced at her and saw no sign of worry on Evelyn's face, knowing she was confident, "If you're the surgeon, there won't be any problems. You managed Cassie's difficult surgery back then. I trust your skills."
"Speaking of Cassie, are you still in touch?" Evelyn asked.
Dermot froze, regretting he brought up Cassie. Why did he have to mention her?
Evelyn laughed, seeing his discomfort. "Relax, I just wanted to know how she's doing."
Although the surgery had been successful, there was always a chance of recurrence, so Evelyn was just curious.
Dermot sighed in relief. "We talk occasionally. She's doing well and is studying abroad. It's better for her."
Cassie had messed up a lot, and Dermot was disappointed. But since his brother saved him, he felt obligated to protect her, hence sending her abroad.
"Got it," Evelyn said, dropping the subject. She didn't like Cassie, but as long as Cassie stayed out of her way, she didn't care.
Evelyn didn't stay long. After finishing her drink, she got up to leave.
This time, Dermot didn't stop her. He walked her to the door and watched until she got home.
Instead of going to bed, Dermot went to his study to work. His life revolved around two things: seeing Evelyn and working.
Back at her place, Evelyn felt a bit disoriented in the unfamiliar room. She quickly tidied up, took a shower, and went to bed.
Maybe it was Dermot's drink, but she slept soundly through the night, which was rare for her in a new place.
She thought Dermot's claim about the drink helping her sleep was just talk, but it turned out to be true.
Just as she was thinking this, the doorbell rang. She got up, still unwashed and unbrushed, and opened the door to find Dermot in a neat suit. She felt a bit embarrassed.
