Chapter 949: Probably Going to Die

Cliff sighed, "I feel like I'm on my deathbed. I've been lying here, thinking about the past, especially your mom. I still remember the first time I saw her."

"She was hurt, like she was running from something. I always felt something happened, but she never told me. Even when she disappeared, I had no clue." Cliff said sadly.

Evelyn was surprised. Her mom was injured back then? This was new.

"I'm telling you this because I hope you won't stop looking for her. I always thought something happened to her, which is why she couldn't come back to you." Cliff added.

Evelyn got it.

She nodded, "Don't worry; she's my mom. I'll find her."

Evelyn hadn't been too concerned before, but now she couldn't ignore it.

Maybe she should find her mom, no matter what.

What if her mom had been suffering all these years?

Cliff didn't say much more and seemed tired. He asked Evelyn to call in the Hamilton family.

Evelyn did as told. After everyone went in, she sat on a bench outside.

Soon, sobs came from the ward.

No matter if those tears were real or not, one thing was clear: Cliff was gone.

Greg walked out with a cold expression, calmly arranging the funeral, unlike the others who were grieving.

But Evelyn knew he was very sad; he just hid it from the rest of the family.

Evelyn stood up and walked to him, unsure how to comfort him. She just said, "I'm sorry."

"Don't worry; I'm fine." Greg forced a smile.

Of course, he wasn't fine. Even though he was mentally prepared, he realized he wasn't as strong as he thought.

"Can I help with anything?" Evelyn asked.

Greg shook his head. "No need; I can handle it."

The Hamilton family was under his control. Even if they tried to cause trouble, he wouldn't let them.

Evelyn nodded. "Alright, I'll go back. Let me know when Mr. Hamilton is buried."

"Okay, Grandpa Hamilton would be happy to have you there." Greg said.

Evelyn thought, 'Your happiness is what truly matters to him.'

But she didn't say it. As she waved and prepared to leave, a pretty figure appeared.

"Greg, Grandpa Hamilton..." Wendy Cook, hearing the crying from the ward, teared up.

Greg looked at her calmly. "Go inside and take a look."

"Huh?" Wendy was stunned. Thinking about the body inside, she felt scared.

Sensing her reluctance, Greg chuckled, "Grandpa Hamilton has passed away. If there's nothing else, you should go back."

"I'll stay here with you." Wendy, though afraid to go inside, didn't want to leave. She knew she should stay by Greg's side now.

Greg wanted to refuse, but Wendy looked at Evelyn and asked, "Who is this?"
