Chapter 1353 Extra: Aidan and Phoebe (28)
Phoebe was all kinds of confused. It sounded like he wasn't blaming her. She just couldn't figure Aidan out.
"Why'd you kiss me?" Aidan stared at her, like he was trying to read her mind.
Phoebe snapped back, feeling his eyes on her. "I kissed you 'cause I like you. No need to overthink it."
She wasn't about to deny her feelings. At this point, it was pointless. Aidan wasn't dumb; he had to know how she felt.
"I thought after last time, you'd have changed." Aidan chuckled. After their last encounter, they hadn't talked for days. He figured Phoebe had moved on, but nope.
Phoebe bit her lip. "Sorry, it was a spur-of-the-moment thing. Couldn't help myself."
She'd promised herself not to pull that stunt again, but here they were. Aidan didn't think much of her now, and even she was kinda disappointed in herself.
"A spur-of-the-moment thing? So you're saying your feelings for me are just impulsive?" Aidan seemed a bit ticked off.
"I'm saying kissing you was impulsive, not my feelings..." She trailed off, giving Aidan a weird look. "Wait, you're not mad?"
Aidan shrugged. "Why should I be mad? I didn't lose anything."
Phoebe could hardly believe Aidan said that. If everything was about losing something, he shouldn't have rejected her before. She was confused and a bit skeptical. "Do you... like me too?"
The air got heavy, and all they could hear was their breathing.
Aidan didn't know if he liked her. He wasn't even sure what liking someone meant. He just knew her kiss today wasn't as gross as he thought it would be. But that didn't mean he liked her.
He shook his head. "How could I like you? Didn't I say I'm not into you?"
"Then just now..."
"I told you, I didn't lose anything." With that, Aidan got up and headed to his room, not caring what Phoebe thought.
Aidan's words stung a bit. She wondered if he really wasn't mad just 'cause he didn't lose anything. It made sense, but something felt off since he wasn't usually like that.
Phoebe made up her mind. She excitedly grabbed her phone and called Evelyn. She spilled everything and then asked, "Evelyn, what do you think he means?"
"What else could it mean? Aidan probably likes you." Evelyn sounded pretty happy about it.
"Really?" Phoebe was still in disbelief that she might've gotten what she wanted so easily.
Even though she'd been crashing at Aidan's place for a while, Phoebe felt like she hadn't done much, which made it seem too easy.
"But don't get too hyped just yet. I know Aidan. Even if he likes you, he probably doesn't realize it. So he won't be able to respond to your feelings right away. You still gotta keep trying," Evelyn said, trying to keep Phoebe from giving up and to encourage her to hang in there.
