Chapter 1178: That Would Truly Be My Honor
At that moment, Bella's mind was racing with a million thoughts.
Nathaniel, chillin' next to her, totally caught the shift in her vibe. When he glanced back at Evelyn, his look was all different.
The auction kicked off, and a few folks started throwing bids, but it wasn't exactly a frenzy.
Evelyn had planned to use this necklace to dig up some dirt on her mom. But now, with it right there, she figured, why not just snag it herself? So, she jumped in.
"One million bucks," Evelyn called out, raising her paddle.
Everyone saw her move and got the hint. No one wanted to mess with her, especially since she was from Golombia. Not worth the hassle.
Just when Evelyn thought she had it in the bag, Nathaniel, chillin' in the front row, raised his paddle too. "Two million," he said, cool as a cucumber.
The crowd went nuts, totally not expecting Nathaniel to jump in.
Nathaniel turned to Evelyn. "Sorry, Ms. Kyte, but my wife really digs this necklace."
"Oh, really? Well, that's sweet. But this necklace was my mom's, and I kinda want it back." She raised her paddle again. "Fifteen million."
Evelyn was basically dropping hints about who she was to Nathaniel. She knew he wasn't dumb; he probably already had a clue.
If she ever thought there might've been something between her mom and Nathaniel, now she was sure there was zilch.
Bella was more scared of Nathaniel, while Nathaniel was just crazy possessive over Bella.
Evelyn had made up her mind; she was taking her mom away.
"Four million," Nathaniel kept pushing.
Evelyn smirked and went for six million.
Nathaniel kept up the game.
Feeling kinda stuck, Evelyn turned to Nathaniel, "Mr. Flores, why don't you just go for twenty million? If you can swing it, I'll back off. Otherwise, we're just wasting time here."
If Nathaniel couldn't cough up that kind of cash, he should just quit it 'cause she could.
"Alright then, as you wish," Nathaniel chuckled and raised his paddle, "Twenty million!"
The crowd lost it again. No one saw this coming, that this plain-looking necklace would be the priciest thing of the night.
They were all buzzing about what Nathaniel's deal was with Bella.
Rumor had it their relationship was rocky, some even said Nathaniel was rough with Bella. But if things were that bad, would he really drop twenty million on something she liked?
Bella couldn't read the crowd's minds, but if she could, she'd probably laugh. While everyone else was scratching their heads over Nathaniel's move, she got it—it was just his possessiveness.
Nathaniel had figured out who Evelyn was and definitely noticed Blake standing next to her. No way he was backing down in front of Blake.
Bella and Blake shared a look. After all these years, they weren't the young lovebirds they used to be, but in that moment, the old sparks were flying.
Turns out, real love, no matter how much time passes, can still flare up when you see that person again.
"Congrats, Mr. Flores, the necklace is yours," Evelyn shrugged. "People say the Flores family in Seabrook City is loaded. Guess they weren't kidding."
The intel Niall sent her was spot on. She'd just learned how powerful the Flores family was.
But she wasn't about to back down because of it.
