Chapter 1066: Won't Let You Down
Phoebe knew it well. "I never meant to use the baby to win his love. I genuinely want to keep the baby."
Even if she couldn't be with Aidan, having his child felt like a blessing. Watching the baby grow up would be like seeing a part of Aidan as a child. For her, it was fulfilling.
Craig didn't get it. "So silly!"
"Craig, you promised me," Phoebe said, eyes red and pleading, hoping he wouldn't go after Aidan.
Craig thought for a moment. "Get in the car. I'll take you home."
"Okay," Phoebe replied, still uneasy.
They left the hospital in silence. Phoebe assumed Craig wouldn't tell Aidan and felt relieved.
But she underestimated Craig's protective nature. He wasn't the type to let his sister face hardship alone.
If the baby was Aidan's, Aidan had to take responsibility.
After dropping Phoebe off, Craig didn't go back to work. He stood outside her apartment, lit a cigarette, and got lost in thought.
The morning flew by. Evelyn finished with her patients and headed to the cafeteria for lunch.
Then she got a call from Craig.
"What's going on?" Evelyn's tone was sharp, knowing Craig still wanted to go after Alex.
Craig laughed it off. "I'm at the coffee shop across from your hospital. Come out and chat."
"Not interested," Evelyn shot back, suspecting Craig wanted her to talk to Ruby.
She wouldn't agree to that.
"Don't worry; it's not about Ruby," Craig said.
Evelyn was surprised but didn't rush to agree. "Just tell me what you need. No need to meet."
She was busy eating and had no time for coffee with Craig.
"Are you sure? Even if it's about Aidan?" Craig sneered. He felt these people didn't care about Phoebe at all.
Though Craig was generally distant from his siblings, Phoebe was the one sister he had a good relationship with. He couldn't just stand by.
"Aidan?" Evelyn frowned. "You want to talk about him?"
Evelyn found it amusing. She didn't recall Craig ever dealing with Aidan.
Craig admitted, "Yes. Come over; you won't be disappointed."
This news would shock Evelyn.
He avoided going directly to Aidan because he knew Aidan's personality. If Aidan found out Phoebe was pregnant, he might secretly get rid of the baby.
So, he went to Evelyn.
Craig knew the dynamics between the siblings. Once Evelyn found out about the baby, she wouldn't let Aidan get rid of it.
Staring at the phone after Craig hung up, Evelyn frowned, sensing more to his words.
Aidan?
What did Craig want to tell her?
She couldn't figure it out but couldn't ignore it either. In the end, she decided.
She got up and walked out of the hospital.
Since it concerned Aidan, she couldn't sit idly by.
