Chapter 869 Stalling for Time
Otis felt a bit embarrassed. It was his plan, after all. He'd sought advice from his dad, who had no objections. That made Otis think it was foolproof.
But now, things were going south. He hadn't checked Dermot's skills before making his move.
"Don't get too cocky!" Otis snarled, waving his hand. His hidden backup sprang into action.
He had a plan B. Even if Dermot was good, could he really take on so many guys?
Dermot gave Otis a nod of respect. Maybe Otis wasn't as dumb as he thought.
Dermot acted like he didn't care, but he knew it would take some effort to win. More importantly, after dealing with them, he would probably be completely exhausted.
As he fought Otis's men, Dermot took them down one by one. Otis stepped back, stunned.
He had never expected Dermot to be such a formidable individual..
Otis regretted not calling more people. Now, it was too late. By the time reinforcements arrived, Dermot would be gone. Anxiety gnawed at him.
If he failed, his dad would be furious and think he was useless.
With other illegitimate children eyeing the Doyle family's heir spot, Otis got desperate. He pulled out his phone to call for help and shouted to his men, "Hold him off. Buy some time!"
But his guys were no match for Dermot. It was futile to rush in as they would only get beaten; it was wiser to wait for backup.
Dermot knew their game and wasn't about to let them win.
Since they wouldn't come to him, he charged at them, forcing a fight.
In no time, Dermot had them all down. But he was exhausted and injured.
Still, he didn't show any signs of weakness.
Instead, he walked toward Otis with a grin. "Is that all? Otis, you really underestimate me."
"What are you gonna do?" Otis stammered, backing away in fear.
He thought, 'He wouldn't dare attack me, would he?'
Dermot sneered and reached out.
However, agunshot rang out before he could reach out towards Otis. He was hit on his hand by the bullet.
He quickly ducked behind a rock, eyes dark with anger. "Otis, you got guts using a gun!"
Even the Doyle family had to be careful about illegal gunfire in Golombia.
That's why Dermot teamed up with Joshua; his men were from abroad. If they used guns, it wouldn't be traced back to him.
Otis glanced at Dermot hiding behind the rock, wanting to say it wasn't his idea, but he kept quiet.
He wasn't dumb. If it wasn't his plan, it had to be his dad's. No wonder Gerald said nothing; he had his own scheme.
