Chapter 742 Let Her Die
Aidan had called Evelyn earlier, saying he had a surprise for her. But to Joshua, it might not necessarily be a pleasant one.
"Better be a surprise. If it's a shock, it means your existence is meaningless," Aidan said coldly. He didn't have much fondness for Joshua either.
However, compared to Dermot, Joshua was slightly better. After all, they grew up together and could be trusted.
Joshua shrugged helplessly and said jokingly, "Evelyn, it better be a surprise, or I'll probably get packed up and sent away."
Aidan's flight was landing at Golombia Airport the next morning, which happened to be a Saturday. Evelyn got up early to pick him up.
When Evelyn came downstairs, she was surprised to see Dora sitting in the dining room having breakfast. Dora didn't say a word to Evelyn, acting as if she didn't exist.
Evelyn found it strange. Dora was usually still asleep at this time, and besides, Dora shouldn't be so calm upon seeing her.
However, Evelyn was busy picking up Aidan and didn't think much of it, assuming Dora was just having an off day.
After Evelyn left, Dora put down her fork and took out her phone. "She's left."
After saying that, she put away her phone and stared in the direction Evelyn had left, her eyes filled with venom. "I want you to walk out that door today and never come back."
Evelyn had no idea danger was approaching. She was driving to the airport, feeling quite cheerful.
Golombia Airport was built in the suburbs, quite far from the city center; it took about a two-hour to drive get there.
Evelyn had just driven out of the city center when she noticed something was wrong. Several cars were following her.
At first, Evelyn thought it was just her imagination, but as the cars continued to tail her closely, she realized they were definitely after her.
Recalling Dora's unusual behavior that morning, Evelyn quickly put them together.
'Finally, it's happening, 'Evelyn thought.
Evelyn had been waiting for Dora to make a move, hoping to catch her in the act. But today of all days was a bit inconvenient.
Evelyn was in a hurry to pick her friends up, and this was just ruining her mood.
She took out her phone to call for help. Although she wasn't sure how skilled the pursuers were, she thought it would be safer to call for backup.
However, before Evelyn could make the call, a violent collision occurred. Her car flipped over, and her phone flew out of her hand, lost somewhere in the crash.
Evelynthought, 'These people are incredibly bold! Does the Roberts family really think they could ignore the law?'
As Evelyn struggled to crawl out of the car, ready to fight, she froze at the sight before her.
A group of tall mercenaries emerged from the cars, and the next second, Evelyn saw them pull out guns.
It was over.
That was Evelyn's immediate thought.
Evelyn couldn't help but think, 'Dora, you really are ruthless this time, hiring mercenaries from abroad? This is reckless.'
Evelyn stopped thinking about that and focused entirely on the situation at hand.
As they approached, Evelyn knew full well that these people wouldn't engage in hand-to-hand combat. They were completely unrestrained, not caring about the consequences of firing guns in Golombia.
In this scenario, even if Evelyn could take on ten people at once, facing armed opponents left her no choice but to surrender.
Gunshots rang out. These men didn't waste a single word; their only goal was clear, that was to kill Evelyn.
