Chapter 929: Stop Talking Nonsense
"Ruby! What do you want? What do I have to do for you to forgive me?" Craig's voice came through the phone, sounding really mad.
Evelyn recognized Craig's voice and was annoyed. "Why should Ruby forgive you? Craig, you can't just apologize and expect everything to be okay. You're too self-righteous."
She used to think Dermot had a bad attitude, but now Craig seemed worse.
"Evelyn? Why is it you?" Craig calmed down when he heard Evelyn. "Where's Ruby? Give her the phone. This is between us."
"Ruby lost her phone, and I just found it," Evelyn said.
Craig frowned. "Lost her phone? We just parted ways. How could she lose it so quickly?"
He was still at the place where he had just met Ruby and was angry, which is why he called. He didn't expect Evelyn to answer.
Evelyn frowned too, sensing something was off. "I'm going to the office to find her."
She hung up, needing to confirm Ruby's safety.
Craig didn't call back. He was also heading to the Kite Group.
When Evelyn got to the Kite Group and found out Ruby hadn't shown up, her anxiety grew.
Ruby didn't come to the office. Where could she be?
Fearing the worst, she called Jennifer to start an investigation and went to check the surveillance footage.
She bumped into Craig at the entrance and asked, "Where did you last see Ruby?"
Only by knowing their route could she check the right footage.
"Where is she?" Craig still didn't get the seriousness of the situation.
"I don't know," Evelyn replied.
"What do you mean?" Craig frowned, confused.
Evelyn shot him a look. "Ruby's missing. After parting ways with you, she didn't come to the office."
"What?" Craig was shocked.
"Just tell me the location so I can check the surveillance footage," Evelyn said.
Craig didn't argue. He told her about the coffee shop where he met Ruby and asked, "How could she be missing?"
"How would I know? Maybe it's because of you," Evelyn said, eyeing him suspiciously. Craig was a big deal in Golombia, and many people had their eyes on him.
Craig's expression darkened, understanding Evelyn's implication. "I'll find out."
Craig left, and Evelyn didn't stick around either. She found a nearby internet café and hacked into the surveillance system. She knew it was wrong but couldn't worry about that now. She'd report it later.
Evelyn found the coffee shop on the footage and saw Ruby and Craig talking tensely. Ruby eventually stood up and left.
But as Ruby turned a corner, she didn't come out again. Evelyn confirmed this was where Ruby went missing.
