Chapter 915 I Had Someone Investigate
By noon, Sarah still hadn't come back, making Evelyn anxious.
"Who could Sarah be meeting that’s taking all morning?" she wondered. Unable to sit still, she left the office to find Sarah's assistant and ask about the client.
The assistant didn't know either, which worried Evelyn more.
She pulled out her phone to call Sarah, not caring if she might interrupt Sarah's meeting with the client.
To her surprise, the phone just kept ringing with no answer.
Evelyn's gut told her something was wrong. If Sarah saw her call, she'd definitely pick up.
She wasn't too worried at first, but now she was really concerned. She rushed upstairs to find Luke and asked him to check which client Sarah was meeting.
She also asked Jennifer to track Sarah's location. As long as Sarah was still in Golombia, they could find her quickly.
But Evelyn still felt uneasy.
After Luke arranged for someone to investigate, he hung up and saw Evelyn's anxious state. "Don't worry. Sarah's reliable. Maybe her phone's on silent because she's in a meeting."
That was possible, but Evelyn's intuition was usually spot-on, especially with bad news.
She didn't say anything because it wouldn't help. They could only wait for news.
The news came quickly. Evelyn found out which client Sarah was meeting and where.
Without hesitation, she prepared to go there directly.
Luke stood up. "I'll go with you."
He wasn't too worried about Sarah but was more concerned about Evelyn's safety.
Evelyn didn't argue, and they left the company, driving to the café where Sarah and the client were meeting.
At the café entrance, Luke stopped the car, and Evelyn hurried inside.
Jennifer had found Sarah's location and even the room number, so Evelyn quickly found the room.
She knocked, but there was no response.
Unable to wait, she pushed the door open.
The room was empty.
"No one? They probably finished and left. Why don't you call her now?" Luke suggested.
Evelyn didn't hesitate. She took out her phone and dialed Sarah's number, hoping it was just a false alarm and nothing had happened.
But when Sarah's phone rang inside the room, Evelyn knew her gut was right, and something had happened to Sarah!
Luke sensed something was wrong too. He walked in and found a phone dropped in the corner, his face turning serious.
"I'll have someone investigate!" he said.
Evelyn didn't listen. She went to the front desk. "Where are the guests from room 288?"
"They left," the front desk employee said, avoiding eye contact.
The employee's reaction made Evelyn suspicious. "Where did they go?"
"How would I know?" the employee shrugged.
"I want to see your surveillance footage," Evelyn demanded.
The employee shook her head. "Who are you? We can't show you that."
Evelyn was too anxious to waste time. She gave Luke a look, and he restrained the employee.
Evelyn went to the surveillance system and started typing, quickly replaying the footage.
