Chapter 269 You Don't Understand Jack
Aidan left, and Phoebe cried loudly as she watched his fading figure, attracting the attention of many travelers.
Niall stood next to her, feeling the gazes coming from many people, as if they all thought he had done something to Phoebe to make her cry like that.
This made him feel awkward. After hesitating for a moment, he spoke, "Uh... don't cry, Aidan is just on a business trip, he's coming back."
"You don't understand jack!"
Phoebe gave him an annoyed glare, "Do you really think I don't know anything? He's leaving to escape, who knows when he'll come back?"
"You act as if you have something to do with my brother." Niall sarcastically commented, rolling his eyes.
Upon hearing that, Phoebe's anger increased, "Get lost!"
Niall was speechless.
I was just trying to console you with good intentions, how did it turn into an argument?
Phoebe turned and left, nobody knew where she was going, and nobody cared.
After she left, Niall also didn't stay any longer. He turned around and left the airport, only slightly surprised that Evelyn didn't actually come to see Aidan off.
In the VIP lounge of the airport, Evelyn had already retracted her gaze from the boarding gate.
They remained silent for a long time before she finally spoke, "Let's go."
Dermot didn't ask anything and silently followed behind her as they walked out of the airport. During the whole journey, neither of them spoke a word.
Just when Dermot thought Evelyn would be sad for a few more days and was preparing to say a few comforting words, he heard her say, "Let's go watch a movie tonight, there's a new one out that seems really good."
"Huh?" The topic changed too quickly, catching Dermot off guard.
"What? Don't you want to go?" Evelyn turned her head and looked at him.
Dermot quickly shook his head and said, "Of course I want to, I'm just a little surprised."
"Surprised about what?"
"I thought you wouldn't be in the mood right now." After all, Aidan had just left, and he thought Evelyn would at least be sad for a few more days.
Evelyn Marina, with her chin resting on her hand, said, "Don't worry, I recover quickly.
"But it will be quick," Dermot reassured Evelyn, knowing that she was saddened by Aidan's departure. He understood that she would not be upset for too long, as people always have to move forward.
"I can see it," Dermot smiled, appreciating Evelyn even more for her resilience and strength rather than viewing her as heartless.
Instead of heading back to Barberts Apartment, the car went directly to a nearby shopping mall. "Let's watch a movie first, and then we can have dinner," Dermot suggested.
Evelyn had no objections to Dermot's plans. All she wanted now was to relax completely.
As they entered the cinema, Dermot assumed they would be watching a romantic film, but to his surprise, they ended up watching a suspenseful one.
In Evelyn's words, romantic movies lacked substance compared to brain-twisting ones.
Dermot had no arguments against this. Although he wasn't particularly interested in romantic films either, he thought it might be fun to watch one with Evelyn.
However, Evelyn didn't give him that chance.
As the movie played in the theater, Dermot leaned over to Evelyn and whispered, "Are you scared?"
Evelyn shook her head, fully engrossed in the movie as she tried to guess who the killer was.
Dermot felt frustrated. He had thought that if Evelyn was scared, he could use the opportunity to give her a hug, but now it seemed like he was overthinking it.
Indeed, Todd's idea, as a singleton, was unreliable.
He had said that watching movies could strengthen their relationship and perhaps lead to something more, but now it seemed like it was all a lie.
Dermot was determined to deduct his bonus this month when he got back!
