Chapter 10 If you can't do it, then get out

Cassie was deeply puzzled, thinking, ' Could it be that because I'm extravagant and don't possess the thriftiness expected of a president, I'm not well-received by the Brooks family?'

Ten minutes later, the car stopped at the subway entrance.

Looking out the window, she realized he had taken her request literally. She had just politely asked to be dropped at the subway entrance, and he actually did it!

She felt a surge of anger but forced a joyful and shy smile as she opened the door and got out of the car, saying, "Joey, thank you."

As soon as she heard the door close, the car sped off.

It was nine o'clock when she arrived at the company.

After studying abroad, she started working at Height Architectural Decoration Company, the largest business of the Brooks family.

Just as she was about to greet the project manager, Alexander Ingram, she saw Olivia, wearing a V-neck white sweater, walking in hand in hand with Arthur, who was dressed in a matching shirt.

Seeing this, Cassie felt a pang of heartache, almost breathless, especially when Arthur noticed her but coldly glanced over her, treating her like a stranger.

Olivia seemed a bit surprised and asked, "Cassie, you're here. Why didn't you come home last night? Mom and Dad were worried."

"Is there a problem?" Cassie raised her eyebrows and asked back.

At that moment, Alexander quickly walked over to Olivia and announced, "The project is assigned to Olivia."

Cassie was shocked, her eyes shifting to Olivia.

"Cassie, don't be mad." Olivia feigned surprise, stepping back as Arthur held her waist, which only fueled Cassie's anger.

"Olivia, what do you want? You've taken my man, and now you want the project I worked so hard for. Do you just enjoy taking things from others?" Cassie fumed.

"When did Mr. Lewis become your man?" Alexander sneered. "You were the one clinging to him. He wasn't interested in you, and it was his help that got you this project."

"Alexander, that's enough," Olivia quickly signaled him with her eyes.

"You're engaged to Mr. Lewis, so it's only natural for you to take over this project," Alexander said to Olivia.

"Do you agree with Cassie?" Olivia asked Arthur, who had been silent.

Cassie was speechless. Yes, she had met the hotel's Sam Anderson through Arthur's introduction, but it was her month-long effort, multiple meetings, and design revisions that convinced Sam to approve the project.

Arthur frowned. "Sam did give me a favor back then."

Alexander mocked, "Everyone knows that. You just had to stir up trouble."

"I don't believe it. I'm going to see my dad." Cassie drove straight to the company to find Robert.

"Dad, I've been in charge of the hotel project. Why are you letting Olivia take over? You know how much effort I've put into this," Cassie questioned.

Seeing her burst in unannounced, Robert was displeased. "The Jones Villa has been assigned to you."

"You should give this small villa to Olivia. She has no experience and should start with simpler projects."

Robert slammed his hand on the table. "Enough! You have no right to make decisions."

Feeling wronged, Cassie choked up. "She took my boyfriend and now wants my project!"

"Are you kidding? Everything here belongs to Height Architectural Decoration Company. I'm the president, and I make the decisions. Besides, Arthur chose Olivia," Robert sneered.

Cassie blurted out, "If you hadn't said that eighty percent of the company's shares were given to Olivia, Arthur wouldn't have chosen her."

Robert calmly replied, "Olivia has suffered a lot over the years. You should get along with her and apologize for what happened yesterday."

Cassie clenched her lips. "I can't do that."

Robert, now furious, slammed the table. "If you can't, then leave. Without this company, you're nothing!"
