Chapter 1598 Time to Wrap Things Up
When Megan first secretly put something in Landon's water, Cassie consulted a senior psychologist in Yugrot about the situation.
According to the doctor, Megan used drugs to make people mentally confused to increase the success rate of hypnosis. At this time, using this kind of hypnosis would have a higher success rate.
So Cassie had Landon pretend to fall for it. She didn't expect Megan to act so quickly. It seemed Megan really wanted to get rid of Michael.
"Megan didn't suspect you, did she?"
"No, she thinks she successfully hypnotized me. In her mind, I'm probably a fool who worships her and obeys her every word." Landon chuckled, "She plans to ask Michael for a divorce and then have me take her abroad to marry her."
"That's great."
Cassie had a playful look on her face, "Landon, I want Michael to know about Megan sleeping with you before they get divorced. You don't mind, do you?"
"I don't care. I'm not from Madison anyway, but the Wittelsbach family should provide our family with some benefits."
"That won't be a problem. Everett promised you before."
Cassie hung up the phone.
She sent a message to her close friends' group: [Megan has fallen into the trap. Start preparing to wrap things up.]
A few seconds later, Bernice called, her voice urgent, "Are you serious?"
"Would I joke about something like this? From now on, we don't need to intervene. Let Megan and Michael fight it out." Cassie laughed.
There was a moment of silence on the other end before Bernice's low voice came through, "Cassie, thank you. On behalf of Nina, thank you."
"No need to thank me. We're all friends. Besides, I hate Megan too." Cassie said softly.
"If Nina were still alive, she would be very happy to have friends like you," Bernice said deeply.
Cassie was stunned and responded softly.
Afterward, Cassie got up to make a cup of coffee. Just as she was finishing, Laura hurried in from outside, "Megan fall for it so quickly?"
"You sneaked out during work hours again." Cassie joked, "I'll dock your pay."
"Go ahead, dock it. I have money anyway." Laura pouted.
"Alright, I know you're not short of money now." Cassie sat in her office chair, "I suspect that your recent high-profile attendance at the state banquet stimulated Michael and Megan, speeding up Megan's desire to divorce."
Laura was stunned and pouted, "You think too highly of me."
"Really." Cassie threw out two reports, "These are job applications received by the HR department today. The former head of marketing at the Ocean Blue group applied. It's said that he and a few colleagues were talking badly about Michael during work hours, and Michael overheard. Michael told them to get out in front of many people and called them useless."
Laura was dumbfounded, "Although employees shouldn't badmouth Michael, especially during work hours, to reach the position of head of marketing, they must have been with the company for a long time or since its founding. For Michael to publicly tell them to get out, he has no tolerance."
"Michael has always been intolerant." Cassie said honestly.
"Yes, Michael is intolerant in life, but he shouldn't be like this at work. Michael is the boss. Arguing with employees publicly is beneath him. If it were me, I would handle chatting during work hours according to company rules. Privately, I would wait until new employees were found before letting them go. Of course, if the employee performed excellently at work, I wouldn't fire them."
Laura said, "Employees are our subordinates, but they are also independent individuals with self-respect."
"You're right." Cassie smiled, "We understand employees' psychology because we once worked at the bottom and know how hard it is. But Michael was born privileged and won't understand. As far as I know, he told the employees to get out that day, leaving a mess at work."
Laura was shocked, "The Ocean Blue group was already having development issues, and the marketing department is the most critical now. To have personnel changes at this time, he must be crazy."
"He's not crazy; he's irrational." Cassie shook her head, "Or maybe he felt uncomfortable seeing you in the news. Think about it, how glamorous his discarded ex-wife is, while his career is not as good as before. Compared to you, Megan is nothing. The internet is full of people calling him stupid. The more uncomfortable he feels, the worse his attitude towards Megan will be. Megan doesn't want to waste time with him anymore."
Laura sneered, "With someone like Michael leading the company, the Ocean Blue group is no longer qualified to be our competitor. By the way, do you want that employee?"
"Yes, and I want to raise his salary and position."
Cassie said, "I want the remaining executives at the Ocean Blue group to be envious and jealous. This way, they will see how much they are needed outside. Coupled with their disappointment in Michael's behavior, it won't be long before many leave. Without excellent employees, the Ocean Blue group won't be our rival."
"Impressive."
Laura was full of admiration, "Cassie, you're amazing."
"But I need your cooperation. If you weren't capable, Michael would probably applaud and celebrate the divorce."
Laura was silent. She didn't know how to respond to that.
Cassie patted her shoulder, "You and Natalia should strive to develop the new product as soon as possible. Then we can deliver a fatal blow to the Ocean Blue group."
"That makes sense." Laura lost interest in chatting and hurried to work.
She now only wanted to develop the latest product. By then, Michael would be betrayed by Megan in marriage and suppressed in business. That feeling would be so satisfying.
To achieve her goal quickly, Laura focused on her work revolution, barely paying attention to the popularity rankings.
Seeing Laura's serious demeanor, the lab staff couldn't help but remark, "Even at a time like this, Laura can still focus on her work. That's amazing. If it were me, I'd be grinning like an idiot just standing there after making it to the popularity rankings and being praised by everyone."
"Laura has seen the world. She doesn't care about those honors and accolades."
"That's true. She's a real researcher. We should learn from Laura."
Unconsciously, the lab staff were influenced by Laura and even volunteered to work overtime.
