Chapter 67
"Joseph curled his lips. ""Is this woman jealous?""
""Noah's sister.""
""Who is she? How can she address you like that?"" Ava looked dissatisfied.
Cassie smiled seductively. ""Miss Collins, hello, I am his girlfriend. You might not have seen me before, but you must have heard my name. I am Cassie, the number one beauty in Madison's high society.""
Joseph's mouth twitched at her words.
Ava widened her eyes, unable to believe that this woman dared to say these things.
She sarcastically said, ""Sorry, I haven't heard of any such thing, but I have heard of Cassie Brooks recently. She was stupid enough to let her sister snatch the inheritance rights and get kicked out of the house. I don't believe Joseph would be interested in a dumb woman like you.""
Cassie felt as if she had been pierced by a thousand arrows.
Joseph's eyes turned serious. ""Ava, be mindful of your words. She is indeed my girlfriend.""
""How is that possible?"" Ava's face turned pale. ""She is not worthy of you!""
Cassie couldn't accept it. ""Why am I not worthy? I am beautiful, and I look great standing next to him. Our future children will definitely be good-looking.""
Ava sneered and didn't hold back her sarcasm. ""But you will lower the intelligence of the future generations.""
Joseph rubbed his temples and said, ""Alright, Ava, I need to congratulate your grandfather. You go take care of your own matters.""
Without waiting for Ava's response, he walked toward the main building with Cassie.
Cassie pouted and remained silent.
Lately, she had been eating and sleeping well, so her cheeks had regained some flesh, making her look very cute.
Unable to resist, Joseph reached out and pinched her cheek. ""Ava is young. She has been pampered since childhood. It's always been like this. Don't mind her.""
It would have been better if he hadn't spoken. But now that Joseph had spoken, Cassie felt her blood boil with frustration.
What did he mean? Was he taking Ava's side?
She sneered and said, ""Don't worry, I won't mind Ava.""
Joseph raised an eyebrow and said, ""So, you're saying you don't mind?""
""You know her so well. You even asked her to pretend to be your girlfriend before. After all, she is Ava, and I'm just a nanny. I'm not Little Cassie or Cupcake.""
Joseph paused. ""So are you upset because I didn't call you Little Cassie?""
""Of course not. Am I such a petty person?"" Cassie forced a smile.
Joseph looked helpless. ""Ava used to follow me and Noah when she was little. I treated her like a little sister.""
Cassie was taken aback. Was he explaining this to her?
At this moment, Grandpa Collins, dressed in a suit and full of spirit, waved his hand, beckoning Joseph.
""Joseph, that's not right. Madison has finally come to see me, and you only arrived now. Do you think I'm too old?"" Grandpa Collins said jokingly.
""Oh no, you look even younger,"" Joseph said, handing over the birthday gift.
Grandpa Collins looked at Cassie, and Joseph introduced her. ""This is my girlfriend.""
""Oh, you've finally found someone you like. I was planning to introduce some good girls to you today. Madison knows quite a few,"" Grandpa Collins said. He then had the servant bring a gift box and gave it to Cassie. ""Young lady, this is a gift I prepared for you. Joseph has endured a lot of hardships. Take good care of him.""
Cassie was surprised, but she didn't know whether to accept the gift or not. Not accepting seemed inappropriate.
""Grandpa's blessings. You should accept it."" Joseph nodded toward her.
Only then did Cassie accept it. Joseph patted her back and said, ""Go wait for me in the front hall.""
Her role was probably over, so Cassie nodded understandingly. As she went downstairs, she ran into Ava.
""Miss Collins, are you waiting for me here on purpose?"" she asked with a charming smile, not surprised at all."
