Chapter 1301 Do You Really Think You're That Popular?

Cassie was totally floored. So that’s why he was all grumpy back then.

"Yeah, I really look up to him," Cassie nodded, not even trying to hide her admiration.

Sure, Declan had his good and bad sides, but ever since he saved Sophia, she had mad respect for him.

Declan was super sweet and caring towards Isabella, but he didn’t spoil her rotten. Honestly, with Declan’s clout, if he’d thrown all his weight around when he first hit Whisperlyn City, she and Joseph might’ve been toast by now.

They say the richer a guy is, the more bad habits he’s got, but she didn’t see any of that in Declan.

He genuinely cared for Isabella, whether she was being a saint or a pain. When she was sick, he was right there with her.

Even though she wasn’t a fan of Isabella, she couldn’t help but envy their love and marriage.

As for her own marriage, it was a total train wreck. Joseph wasn’t as chill and forgiving as Declan; otherwise, he wouldn’t have been so easily played by Megan.

After she patched things up with Joseph, maybe he’d changed a lot, but before they could really spend time together, he had that accident.

Cassie glanced at Joseph beside her, seeing him all frowny and frustrated.

"Cassie, don’t worry. I’ll become someone you admire, just like him," Joseph said seriously, clenching his fist, "I’ll hit the books hard and take back the Hernandez Group."

Cassie smiled, "What I admire about him isn’t his business swagger. You don’t get it."

"Then tell me. I can learn," Joseph quickly replied.

"What are you gonna learn?" Cassie shot him a look, "What I admire is his loyalty in marriage and his patience in love. If you learn that, who are you gonna use it on?"

Joseph was stunned.

Marriage and love seemed like a million miles away to him.

He was a bit lost. Before yesterday, he hadn’t really thought about these things. From the photos on his phone, he could tell he used to be super close to Cassie.

But Cassie was married and had a kid.

What kind of relationship did he have with her before?

Joseph was seriously confused.

"Let’s go, time to head back. You still have classes today," Cassie didn’t dwell on it. She knew Joseph was growing up fast, but it was unlikely he’d grown to understand love yet.

Not long after they got in the car, Laura called, "Cassie, you done? Michael said he wants to visit Joseph at the estate today. I haven’t seen you in a few days, so I’ll come along with him."

"You two seem to be getting along well," Cassie teased with a grin.

"Stop talking nonsense," Laura quickly lowered her voice, clearly warning her.

Cassie immediately guessed that Michael might be nearby and smiled, "Alright, I’ll hit the supermarket for some groceries. You’re welcome to come over."

Laura added, "Make sure to cook some of my favorite dishes."

Laura hung up the phone with a smile. When she turned around, she almost bumped into Michael’s face.

Her lips nearly touched his nose, and her face turned bright red. "Michael, why are you so close? Are you nuts?"

"You’re the crazy one, Laura. Can’t you say anything nice?" Michael was frustrated, but seeing her blushing face, he felt it was kinda cute.

Lately, Laura's belly had blown up like a balloon, and her face had gotten all round. Her skin was glowing, probably from all the healthy stuff she was eating at home. It was hard not to pinch her cheeks.

"I do have nice things to say, just not to you," Laura huffed, "Cassie still needs to grab groceries, so we can head out a bit later."

"Oh, perfect. I gotta grab something from upstairs," Michael said with a cheeky grin and dashed upstairs.

Laura watched him go, feeling puzzled.

An hour later, Michael drove them to the Hernandez House.

It wasn’t far from the estate, less than a half-hour drive.

This was Laura’s first time at the estate, and she was super envious of its size. "This place is massive. Compared to where you live, my villa is probably just a bit bigger than your bathroom."

Michael awkwardly retorted, "Whose bathroom is that big?"

"Yeah, our bathroom is about the same size as your place," Cassie said with a smile, "Let me show you around and pick some fruit."

"Okay," Laura turned to Michael and said, "You don’t need to follow me. Go find Joseph."

"Who wants to follow you? Do you really think you’re that popular?" Michael instinctively scoffed.

"Fine, don’t ever follow me again," Laura said with a cold smile.

Michael said, "Do you think I want to follow you? I’m just worried you’ll hurt the baby in your belly when you get all impulsive."

"Thanks, but if you hadn’t pushed me for Megan, the baby in my belly would be just fine," Laura replied sarcastically.

"How long are you gonna keep bringing that up? Forget it, I’m not arguing with you. I’m gonna find Joseph," Michael said angrily, waving his hand and walking away quickly.

Cassie was speechless, "Aren’t you two tired?"

"Not really," Laura shrugged and said, "If he ever stops arguing with me, I’d be unaccustomed."

"You two are meant to be together," Cassie sighed.

Laura looked at her in confusion, "Why?"

"If you two weren’t together, such acid-tongued people would be destined to be lonely forever," Cassie joked, "Now you can at least keep each other company."

"Goodbye," Laura said angrily, waving her hand.

"Just kidding," Cassie quickly grabbed her hand. "How’s the baby doing?"

"Don’t even mention it. The baby keeps kicking around in my belly at night," Laura said with feigned annoyance, but her eyes were sparkling.

"Really annoyed?" Cassie raised an eyebrow. As a mom herself, she got it. "Be honest."

Laura said with mixed emotions, "You know, I wasn’t happy about being pregnant at first. But as my belly grew, sometimes when I ate something I liked, the baby would get excited too. When I played music for the baby, it would move around a lot. It’s amazing. I suddenly realized that I’m really going to be a mom, and I have to be responsible for it."

"Every mom goes through this. I did too. When the baby is born, you’ll feel even more wonderful. Although you can’t be happy all the time, kids are little angels," Cassie said with a smile.

"What about you? How are things with Joseph? Are you planning to take care of a Joseph with the intelligence of a two-year-old for the rest of your life?" Laura asked with a complicated expression.
