Chapter 726
"Is this yours?" He took a brocade box from the car and opened it, revealing the "Queen's Heart" inside.
Cassie was stunned. The "Queen's Heart" was once something he spent 75 million on in Madison to give to her, a testament to their love.
She had carefully kept it until three years ago when she became disappointed, left, and forgot about it.
"It used to be mine, but not anymore," Cassie smirked and lowered her eyes, hiding the complexity in them.
"What do you mean?" Joseph frowned.
"This is something you used to give me; maybe you don't remember," Cassie said calmly.
Joseph's eyes darkened, "I'm sure you used to beg me to buy it for you."
Cassie smiled, "Think what you want, but we're divorced now. You can give this to Megan."
After saying that, she walked past him.
Joseph instinctively grabbed her wrist and put the box in her hand. "Megan wouldn't want something you've worn; you take it."
Cassie looked down at the box, feeling self-mockery in her heart. It turned out Megan didn't want it, so he gave it to her.
"Fine." She took it and left.
As she entered the elevator lobby, she casually threw her trash into a nearby can.
Joseph's eyes narrowed, and with a frosty tone, he snapped, "You just tossed something that precious, just like that?"
"Since you told me to take it, I have the right to dispose of it."
After pressing the button for the CEO's private elevator, Cassie entered, the doors closed, and she left.
Joseph walked to the trash can, took out the brocade box, looked at the diamond necklace inside, and, for the first time, seriously considered it. He had lost many memories. What memory was this?
He had always thought he hated Cassie.
But why would he give her such a precious gift?
Did he hate her enough to, as Lucas said, go to KFC with her?
Back at Hernandez's group, nearing noon, Megan came over with lunch.
"Joseph, I haven't seen you all day yesterday. I missed you, so I specially made lunch for you." Megan opened the lunchbox.
"Okay." Joseph took the utensils and was about to eat when the door was gently pushed open, and a little head peeked in.
When Joseph looked over, Sophia immediately ran in. "I missed you so much."
She threw herself into Joseph's arms, which startled Megan. "Is she your daughter?"
"No, she's Liam's daughter." Joseph lifted Sophia onto his lap, realizing he could never be stern with Sophia, "Aren't you at home? How did you end up here?"
"I came to the company with Liam to play, but he's always working. I got bored alone, so I came up to find you."
Sophia turned to Megan, "Is this aunt also an employee of the company?"
