Chapter 322

"Joseph's face registered shock as he turned to her, almost choked by irritation. ""Cassie, do you understand what I mean?""

""I got it. You mean you can't break up with Luna,"" Cassie replied wryly. She had even less reason to cling to Joseph if that was the case.

Her mind usually appeared sharp—had it been devoured by dogs now?

He refused to entertain her, his foot slamming down on the accelerator, the car speeding wildly.

""What are you doing? Let me out!"" Cassie's protests were futile.

The car stormed into Oasis International; he dragged her upstairs and flung her onto the sofa, fuming, ""Do I need to spell it out clearly, Cassie? Break up with David right now. I'll allow you to bear my child, and if you're pregnant, I'll leave Luna.""

Cassie's eyes widened. She was motionless for a long time.

Joseph tossed his suit jacket to the floor, bracing his hands against the back of the sofa, trapping her slight frame against his chest. ""You're poisonous, Cassie. This is the most I can offer. This is your sole chance.""

Her mind buzzed with shock. Didn’t he despise her before? Didn’t he always find her repulsive? And now, he was willing to leave Luna just for a child with her? Could he still have... feelings for her?

Her heart quivered. She couldn't deny a twinge of emotion. She knew all too well the harsh tactics of Jayden's family, and Isabella's death was likely no coincidence. Just as Clark had harmed her once, he could do it again.

Joseph was her shortcut to swift justice.

Silent and unmoving, she was lifted and carried to the upstairs bedroom, where he laid her down and leaned in for a kiss.

But she came to her senses quickly and pushed him away. ""No, I can't do this.""

The fiery atmosphere froze abruptly.
Joseph's eyes, bloodshot with anger, bore into her. ""Why?""

Cassie felt her heart skip a beat. She was deliberately avoiding his gaze. ""I'm engaged to David. He's sacrificed so much for me; I can't hurt him. I want revenge, but I refuse to be consumed by hatred.""

Joseph stared at her in eerie silence for an eternity until a low chuckle came from deep within his throat.

""Get out."" His voice was sharp as he shoved her to the floor, his handsome face shrouded in malevolence.

Biting back tears, Cassie scrambled to her feet, quickly donned her clothes, and hurried out.

""Cassie, this is the last time I tolerate this. You'll regret it."" Joseph's voice was devilish as he fixed his gaze on her.

A chill raced down her spine, and Cassie left Oasis International without looking back.

When she arrived back at the Chapman family, her world imploded further—her belongings were strewn across the lawn.

Vera and her daughter stood at the doorway. ""Take your things and get out. You're not welcome at the Chapman family anymore.""

Cassie's fists clenched. ""This is my father's house; you have no right to tell me to leave.""

""What a joke!"" Vera sneered. ""I am Leo's lawful wife. I own half of this house; if I say you can't stay, you're out.""
