Chapter 737
This scene.
It made Joseph's blood rush to his head, making his heart uncontrollably twist with pain. He quickly grabbed a towel, rushed over to wrap Sophia's body inside without much thought, lifted Sophia with his broad body, and swiftly walked out of the bathroom.
Sophia was carried to the large bed in the bedroom, crying and sobbing, "It hurts and so cold."
Joseph touched her icy, cold skin and then checked her body. A bruise appeared on her elbow.
"Sophia, it's okay. I'll get you dressed right away." Joseph wrapped her in a blanket, and as he turned around, he saw Megan coming over with children's clothes in hand.
She looked flustered and aggrieved, "Joseph, I'm sorry, I don't know how she suddenly fell."
"I asked you to bathe her. Is this how you bathed her? When she fell, you just sat still in the chair."
A surge of anger inexplicably rose within Joseph, his anger completely uncontrollable for the first time towards her.
"I didn't mean to do it. I was scared at the time, so I didn't react on time."
Megan was yelled at, tears streaming down her face. She bit her lip, reached out to Sophia, and said, "Sophia, Auntie Megan will dress you."
"I don't want you to dress me." Sophia shrank back in fear, her eyes full of resistance as she looked at her.
"Alright, let me do it." Joseph quickly took the clothes and helped Sophia put them on.
Megan clenched her fists beside her, her face pale. She couldn't believe that today Joseph kept getting angry at her for a child.
Was it necessary? Sophia wasn't even his child.
After Sophia had been dressed, Joseph carried her directly to the next room.
When he returned with the medicine, Sophia shrank away, tears still hanging on her eyelashes. "I don't want to apply it," she said.
"Be good, Sophia. You need to apply the medicine to get better." Although Joseph felt heartbroken, he had to use a serious tone at this moment.
"I don't want it, I don't want to stay here, I want my mom, I want to go to Cassie's." Sophia buried her face and suddenly choked up, fear flickering on her face.
"At this moment, Cassie is already asleep, Sophia, can you listen to me?" Joseph comforted her.
But Sophia just kept crying, "It hurts; I want Cassie; I don't like it here."
Joseph was at a loss for a moment. All this time, Sophia had been obedient and sensible in front of him, even if she cried occasionally. It was because she missed her mom or because Liam ignored her.
It was the first time I had seen her like this. "Why don't you like it here? Didn't you say you wanted to come and stay at my house before?"
A hint of fear flashed across Sophia's face, but she gritted her teeth and remained silent.
"Sophia, just say whatever you want to say," Joseph gently stroked her head.
After looking up at him for a while, Sophia suddenly leaned against his chest and burst into tears, "You won't hate Sophia, will you?"
"Why would I? Sophia is so lovely." Joseph felt really sad hearing her careful tone.
"But Auntie Megan said you might not like me." Sophia choked out softly," She said you will have children in the future, and you won't like Sophia."
Joseph's handsome face suddenly darkened, "The aunt you're talking about is Megan?"
"Yes." Sophia nodded her little head, her voice low and uncertain.
"She said you and Liam's father are not the same person, you don't like Liam, your relationship is not good. If I ruin your relationship with Megan, you won't like me either, but I didn't ruin your relationship with Megan."
Tears filled her eyes with grievance. She repeated, "Sophia didn't ruin your relationship with Megan, so please don't hate me, okay? I hope you and Megan get along well. I'm afraid Liam won't want to be with me, and you won't like me either."
