Chapter 1546 She Has a New Boyfriend Again
"Derek, thanks a lot," she said, turning to look at him seriously.
"No problem," Derek replied.
He then pulled out a red string bracelet from his pocket. "I got this good luck charm for you from a famous fortune teller in Whisperlyn City last week. Wearing it will bring you good luck. It's not expensive, so you can't refuse."
He finished speaking and slipped the bracelet onto her wrist.
It wasn't pricey, just a small gold apple in the middle, a simple design, but it was filled with Derek's heartfelt intentions.
"And I have something else to show you." Derek pulled her to sit down and opened a finance app on his phone. "I remember you said you don't know me well enough. This is all my investment money, including stocks and funds."
Laura was caught off guard and saw everything. She was bewildered and wanted to push his phone away.
But Derek didn't give her a chance. He even entered his bank password in front of her, showing her the balance. "This is my savings I've earned from investments with friends and classmates abroad. I may not make as much as you in the future, but it's enough for our marriage."
"And this is my phone password. I can add your fingerprint, so you can check my phone anytime," Derek said.
"No need, that's enough." Laura pulled her hand back in fright.
"Do you feel you know me well enough now? Can you trust me?" Derek asked in a low, hoarse voice, "Laura, what I mean is we can start dating. Whether a relationship is suitable or not can only be known after trying. If you deny me from the beginning, I won't be satisfied."
Laura's mind was in turmoil. "If your parents weren't my Godfather and Godmother, I would definitely be willing to date you, but..."
"I remember telling you that since I confessed to you, I'm quite confident I can handle my family. I won't let my parents hurt you." Derek interrupted her, staring at her sharply. "Laura, are you afraid to try because you're scared you'll fall hopelessly in love with me?"
"No way." Laura was immediately provoked.
"That's not the case. You're just afraid of falling in love with me," Derek said.
"No, I'm not," Laura insisted.
"Then why don't you dare to try?" Derek then asked.
"I don't want to be judged by others," Laura explained.
"You're just afraid of falling in love with me," Derek repeated again.
"You're talking nonsense," Laura still retorted.
"Then why don't you dare to try?" Derek tempted.
"Fine, I'll try," Laura finally trapped.
As soon as she finished speaking, Laura regretted it. She was going crazy. "I take it back."
Before she could finish her sentence, her mouth was sealed with an excited kiss.
Derek pressed her into the sofa, giving her a hard kiss, then he laughed hoarsely, "You can't take back what you said, unless you're a coward or a wimp."
"I'm not a coward," Laura said, just before Derek kissed her again.
"I know you're not, because you already said yes," Derek replied.
He deepened the kiss playfully, his hand moving to clasp hers tightly on the sofa, their fingers interlocking.
Laura's anxious heart suddenly found a place to rest.
She gripped his fingers tightly, the warmth on her fingers and lips telling her this wasn't a dream.
She had only been divorced for two months, and now she had a new boyfriend.
It was unbelievable, but it was true.
This was definitely the most absurd thing she had ever done in her life.
"What are you thinking about?" Derek asked, his lips brushing against hers.
"I need to go home," Laura said, turning her flushed face away.
Their relationship had changed, and she hadn't yet figured out how to handle it.
"Go ahead," Derek said, not trying to stop her. "With a kid at home, you shouldn't stay out too long."
He walked her to the parking lot.
Laura hurriedly got into her car.
Had she really agreed to date Derek? She must be out of her mind.
The biggest mistake she had ever made was marrying Michael and agreeing to get along with him.
After finally getting divorced, she swore never to get entangled with the Jude family again, but now she was dating Derek Jude.
Her mind was so preoccupied with random thoughts that when she turned into the garage, she accidentally scraped the side door.
Just then, Derek called, "Are you home yet?"
"Derek, it's all your fault," Laura said irritably, "You've ruined everything for me."
"What happened?" Derek asked nervously, suddenly being blamed.
"It's all your fault for chasing me like that, making me distracted and crash my car," Laura complained.
"You had an accident?" Derek asked anxiously, "Where are you? I'll come over right away."
"In my garage." Laura could feel his concern and care, which eased her mood a bit, but her tone was still not great. "I scraped the wall while turning. My car is very expensive, and the repair will probably cost a lot. Look, just started dating you and I'm already losing money."
Derek weakly asked, "Isn't that because of your driving skills?"
"What's wrong with my driving skills?" Laura instantly got angry, "You can doubt my character, but not my driving skills."
"Well, it's all my fault." Derek quickly apologized, "How about this, I'll pay for the repair costs and the emotional distress. Please don't be mad. If you get sick from anger, I'll have to atone with my life."
"My health is already ruined from anger. You better do it quickly," Laura snorted.
"Okay, I'll go die right away," Derek agreed.
Laura's last bit of anger dissipated, "Forget it, I'm hanging up."
