Chapter 561
A wave of revulsion surged through her, leaving her feeling thoroughly repulsed.
" Cassie, drink some water," Rosalind implored, her hand gently patting Cassie's back in a futile attempt to soothe her.
"I'm fine," Cassie managed to utter, her voice barely above a whisper. "Get the car ready. I'm going to his office."
Rosalind's eyes widened in concern. "You're in no condition to go anywhere," she protested.
"I need to figure some things out," Cassie insisted, her tone stubborn despite her weakened state.
Joe, unable to remain silent any longer, chimed in. "Rosalind, arrange for the car. We can't let Joseph continue like this."
With a resigned sigh, Rosalind arranged for a car to transport Cassie to the Hernandez Corporation.
Upon their arrival, the receptionist immediately recognized Cassie. A flicker of sympathy passed through her eyes. " Cassie, the CEO is currently occupied."
Cassie, undeterred by the receptionist's words, insisted, "Even if Joseph is busy, I need to see him."
With that, she made her way upstairs, heading straight for Joseph's office.
As she pushed open the door, Joseph's displeased voice filled the room. "Who gave you permission to enter without knocking?"
Cassie was in the midst of formulating a response when her eyes fell upon the sight of Megan, seated comfortably on Joseph's lap. The sight was enough to make her stomach churn.
"Megan," Cassie began, her voice icy. "Have you no shame, seducing a married man?" Unable to contain her anger, she raised her hand to slap Megan.
But Joseph was quicker, catching her wrist mid-air.
Joseph's gaze was cold as he glared at her. " Cassie, who do you think you are? How dare you lay a hand on Megan. Get out."
He forcefully released her arm, and had it not been for Joe's quick reflexes, Cassie would have stumbled.
"Joseph, you can't do this. Cassie is carrying your children," Joe reminded him.
"She should have stayed at home instead of running around," Joseph retorted, his tone laced with impatience.
Cassie let out a bitter laugh. "Do you think I wanted this? My husband is with another woman, holding her, embracing her. How could I possibly sleep? Were you with her all night?"
Joseph turned his face away, his silence serving as a confirmation.
In that moment, Cassie felt a wave of despair wash over her, the sadness threatening to consume her.
Joseph's lips twitched, a pang of pain shooting through his heart.
Megan suddenly spoke up, her voice barely audible. "I'm sorry, Cassie. I wasn't feeling well yesterday."
"Just because you weren't feeling well doesn't give you the right to spend the night with someone else's husband. Megan, you clearly have no shame. Stop pretending to be innocent," Cassie retorted, her voice laced with bitterness. She took a deep breath, attempting to regain her composure. "Can you leave us alone? If you insist on staying, I will call the reporters and we can all have a conversation together."
Joseph's eyes flashed with anger. "This is my private matter. If you call the reporters, what will they think of Megan?"
Cassie let out a scornful laugh.
Joseph was only concerned about protecting Megan's reputation. What about hers? Was she just a pawn to be trampled upon?
"Why are you laughing?" Joseph demanded, Cassie's laughter only serving to irritate him further.
"Joseph, stop arguing. I'll leave," Megan interjected, picking up her bag. "The internet is so developed now, if the reporters find out, people will definitely curse you."
"Megan," Joseph's tone softened. "I'll have the driver take you home."
"I'll wait for you," Megan replied, her voice filled with tenderness. As she turned to leave, she shot Cassie a triumphant glance.
Cassie clenched her fists, her anger threatening to consume her.
" Cassie, if you dare to harm Megan, I won't let you off," Joseph warned, his brows furrowed in concern.
Cassie reluctantly shifted her gaze to Joseph's handsome face. He was still the man she loved, but his eyes held an unfamiliar sense of fear.
Compared to his betrayal and cruelty, she would rather believe that Megan had manipulated his mind.
"Joseph, why did you change?" Cassie asked, her eyes red and swollen. "You said you only had me in your heart and had no intention of reconciling with Megan. Were you lying to me all along?"
Joseph was momentarily taken aback. Had he really said such a thing?
