Chapter 569

Once the announcement was made, a wave of vitriol washed over Cassie's Facebook page, the digital realm becoming a battleground of harsh words.

"What do you mean by mutual arrangement? I suppose Joseph must have lined your pockets quite handsomely," one user sneered.

"I was once a believer in your relationship with him. How foolish I feel now," another lamented.

"How much money did you pocket?"

"You should abandon your CEO title and take up acting; it seems more fitting," a final comment suggested.

In the wake of this, Megan began a campaign of sentimentality, sharing a series of photos from her past with Joseph. The images, spanning from their middle school years to their high school days, flooded the internet. Many users were swayed by this display, praising the couple's enduring love.

However, Cassie had long since stopped paying attention to these comments. She severed her ties with Facebook and distanced herself from the news.

Her isolation was interrupted when Laura called, her voice thick with anger. " Cassie, have you lost your mind? What do you mean you and Joseph divorced last month? He didn't divorce you, he cheated on you with that harpy, Megan! Why should they be the ones to act so despicably, while you shoulder the blame? Haven't you heard the insults being hurled your way? This is unacceptable. I feel like taking a knife to that loathsome pair."

"Laura, I was left with no choice. Joseph used my father's health as leverage. If I hadn't made the statement, Joseph wouldn't have provided treatment for my father," Cassie responded, her voice laden with helplessness.

"Is Joseph even human? He's nothing more than a despicable lowlife. You need to divorce him immediately," Laura spat, her fury palpable.

"Joseph will likely wait until after I give birth to leave," Cassie replied.

"Joseph wants to take the children? Doesn't he have Megan? Let her bear his children in the future. Is Megan incapable of giving birth?" Laura's voice was strained, as if she were on the verge of a breakdown.

"How can a member of the Hernandez family allow their children to be raised outside the family? Don't worry, I'll find a solution," Cassie said, her voice tinged with bitterness.

"This is driving me insane. Megan cannot become your children's stepmother."

"Of course not," Cassie assured her.

After ending the call, Cassie was left with a troubled expression. Meanwhile, Megan was settling into the seaside villa.

As Nathan surveyed their new surroundings, he exclaimed, "Megan, this place is incredibly luxurious. No wonder you were so eager to move in. I've heard this is the most expensive seaside area in all of New York."

"I didn't move here because it's expensive," Megan replied, a smile playing on her lips as she settled onto the couch.

"I know, it's because this is where Cassie and Joseph used to live, right? If Cassie knew, she'd be livid," Nathan said, admiration for his sister evident in his voice.

" Cassie used to flaunt her status as the lady of the Hernandez family, but now she's nothing. You wouldn't believe how many of New York's elite are trying to curry favor with me. Everyone knows that you'll be Mrs. Howell in the future," Nathan said.

"Don't worry, there will be even more people trying to please you once Joseph and I are married," Megan replied calmly.

"Given the current trend, I think that will happen sooner rather than later," Nathan said, his phone suddenly ringing. He moved to the side, answering it with a mischievous grin.

After a brief conversation, he returned and announced, "I'm leaving."

"Where are you going?" Megan asked, her gaze filled with disdain. "Don't tell me you're about to do something reckless again. Joseph may love me, but he hasn't spoiled me to the point of having no boundaries. He hasn't been fond of you for a long time."

"Don't worry, I'm just going to teach that Laura a lesson," Nathan said, a smirk playing on his lips.

Megan raised an eyebrow. "Is that Cassie's friend?"

"Yes, Laura is somewhat attractive, but she's incredibly arrogant. When I pursued her before, she insulted me. I couldn't let that go," Nathan sneered.
