Chapter 1424 I Won't Consider You a Friend Anymore

Later, Laura made it, but nobody knew the struggles she went through.

Earning the title of the world's youngest formulator wasn't a walk in the park; it never was.

Michael would never get Laura.

He'd just brush it off, saying, "That was Nathan's doing, not Megan's. Plus, Nathan's already been punished; he was castrated and vanished."

"I don't buy that Megan had nothing to do with it," Laura said, her voice icy.

Michael frowned, thinking Laura was being unreasonable. "Laura, you have a bias against Megan. She's actually a very pitiful woman."

Laura thought, 'Michael's words are stomping all over my last nerve.'

Laura used to be the closest person to Michael.

But Michael had zero sympathy for Laura's situation. Instead, he thought Megan was the one who deserved pity.

Fine, her life had been miserable enough.

"I don't want to talk about Megan with you anymore. It makes me sick. Anyway, I'm set on getting a divorce," she said flatly. "If you don't agree, I'll talk to your parents and your grandfather tomorrow."

"You're nuts," Michael stood up angrily. "You can't go to them."

"Why not?" Laura stared at him mockingly. "What, are you scared they'll find out Megan is back and you're hiding her in an apartment? Afraid they'll hurt Megan?"

Michael didn't deny it but pleaded, "Laura, just wait two more weeks. I'll send her away by then, okay?"

"No way, and I won't."

After Laura's cold refusal, she saw Michael's eyes darken.

Her heart suddenly felt uneasy, and she blurted out, "You wouldn't want to imprison me, would you?"

Michael's thin lips twitched awkwardly, but he didn't deny it. He had thought about it, but then he remembered that Joseph might go to Carl, so he dismissed the idea.

A surge of anger welled up in Laura. Unable to bear it, she picked up the water on the table and splashed it in his face. "Why don't you just kill me? But killing just me won't be enough; you'll have to kill Joseph, Cassie, and Lucas too."

"What nonsense are you talking about? I never thought of hurting you," Michael said, wiping the water off his face, frustrated.

Laura felt heartbroken. Michael had always been hurting her.

Unfortunately, Michael didn't realize it because he only cared about Megan.

"Michael, imprisoning me won't work because your mom comes over every day to see Maeve," Laura took a deep breath and said coldly. "But if you sign this agreement, I promise not to tell your parents for the next two weeks."

"No way." Michael instinctively refused. "I will never get a divorce."

Laura was furious. "Aren't you feeling guilty about Megan? Don't you think she has sacrificed too much for you? Then marry her and give her happiness. Why are you clinging to me?"

"Laura, I do like you, and I can't let Maeve grow up in a broken family. So, I can only let Megan down. Besides, Megan doesn't want to interfere in our marriage; she would feel guilty."

Laura almost cursed, "Fuck."

Megan would never feel guilty! Michael was such an idiot.

"If you don't agree, then we'll have to go through legal procedures," Laura said coldly. "Don't blame me for ruining your reputation then. After all, it's pretty disgraceful to have an affair with your first love while you're married."

With that, Laura headed upstairs with Maeve, not even bothering with dinner.

Upstairs, she started tossing all of Michael's clothes and personal stuff out.

Michael stared at his belongings scattered all over the hallway, his head pounding with anger.

But before he could clean up, Eric called him.

"Get your ass back here," Eric said coldly.

Michael felt uneasy. From Laura's tone earlier, she hadn't told Eric and the others yet, so it must have been Joseph who did.

On his way back, Michael angrily called Joseph. "Joseph, why couldn't you wait two more weeks? Did you have to rush to tell my family?"

Joseph replied coldly, "Are we that close?"

Michael was at a loss for words. "Is it necessary? I told you, you'll regain your memory. It's just a matter of time."

Joseph laughed coldly. "Michael, you can speak lightly because it didn't happen to you. Do you understand the pain of losing my memory again and again? Do you understand the feeling of having my once beloved erased from my mind and replaced with someone else? Do you understand the despair of realizing I've done countless things to hurt Cassie and wanting to kill myself? You understand nothing."

Michael felt a bit embarrassed by the accusation, but he couldn't help but retort, "But you were the one who let Megan down first. You had such a good relationship with her, she considered you her everything. But in the years she was missing, you fell in love with another woman. Any woman would feel uncomfortable."

"Don't you realize she approached me with a purpose?" Joseph asked incredulously.

"I don't think so. Megan was so young back then; how could she have such schemes? You lost your memory, and a lot of what you know came from Cassie. Cassie hates Megan, so what she says might not be true."

Michael added, "Megan's mistake was hypnotizing you to forget Cassie. But a woman scorned can do irrational things. And in the end, Megan wanted to cure you."

Joseph was almost driven mad with anger. "Enough. Michael, from today on, we're done. I won't consider you a friend anymore."

Joseph hung up the phone angrily.

Michael was also furious, punching the steering wheel in frustration.

Michael just wanted to make amends, why couldn't anyone understand?

Whether it was Laura or his friends, they all wanted to cut ties with him.

At the Hernandez House.

Cassie saw Joseph hang up the phone, take off his suit jacket, and angrily throw it onto the bed, his handsome face full of rage.

She had rarely seen Joseph this angry. "Are you really going to cut ties with Michael?"

"Yes." Joseph rubbed his temples with a cold expression.

Cassie pouted. "You fought with Michael over Megan before. You two didn't talk for a while, but then you made up."

"Really?" Joseph said faintly. Her words seemed to trigger a familiar feeling in his mind, and he suddenly held his head with his hands.

Cassie looked at him worriedly. "What's wrong with you?"
