Chapter 1027 I Will Always Wait for You

They hung out at the restaurant playground until 8 PM.

Joseph wanted to show off his basketball skills to Oliver, so he took them to the gym.

A heated game was already in progress.

Joseph whispered something to the team captain, who handed him a jersey and subbed him in.

Tall and lean, Joseph looked incredibly handsome in his sports gear, instantly catching the attention of the female spectators.

"That number 3 is super hot."

"Yeah, he's so tall and good-looking. I wish I had a boyfriend like him."

"Doesn't he look like Joseph?"

"No way Joseph would be here. He looks, like, twenty-one tops."

"Shh, he's shooting from way out! He made it, wow!"

Cassie and her kids overheard the women's chatter.

Cassie felt a bit embarrassed but had to admit Joseph looked really good on the court.

Many girls had watched "Slam Dunk" growing up, and she was no exception. She used to think Arthur and Christopher were handsome, but compared to Joseph, they didn't even come close.

Plus, Joseph's basketball skills were legit. Whether it was dunking, three-pointers, or grabbing rebounds, he dominated the game. It turned into his personal showcase.

The team that was losing quickly overtook their opponents because of him.

Sophia clapped excitedly. "Daddy, you're amazing. Keep it up!"

Encouraged by Sophia, Joseph played even harder.

A little boy nearby looked at Sophia enviously. "Is that your dad? He's so cool."

"Of course, my dad's the best at basketball." Sophia lifted her chin proudly.

Oliver stayed quiet, just watching Joseph on the court.

What was a dad? He never really knew before.

Everyone else had a dad, but he didn't.

In kindergarten, other kids were picked up by their parents every day.

During holiday events, classmates' parents would come, but he had none.

When they went out to play, kids his age could get piggyback rides from their dads when they got tired, but he couldn't. He'd just say he wasn't tired because he didn't want Cassie to be exhausted.

He had never experienced what it felt like to "have a dad."

But today, he seemed to understand.

Although others used to think David was his dad, he knew David wasn't.

David was only nice to him because of Cassie.

He understood everything.

He used to think his biological dad was a jerk, but now he realized he could play with building blocks and was great at basketball.

After the game, Joseph was surrounded by people, but he walked straight to Cassie, Oliver, and Sophia.

He knelt down to Oliver and Sophia and gently asked, "How about I teach you both to play basketball?"

"Sure!" Sophia clapped her hands happily.

Oliver said nothing, but his proud expression told Joseph he agreed.

Cassie asked, "Why would they allow you play?"

"Easy. I told them I'd give each of them a thousand bucks. They couldn't wait for me to come every day." Joseph laughed.

Cassie was speechless.

Suddenly, her phone rang. It was David, and her expression froze.

After a moment, she awkwardly stepped aside to take the call.

"Cassie, where are you? It's noisy," David said softly. "When are you coming back?"

"I'm out with Oliver. I'll be back soon," Cassie replied, feeling awkward.

"You're out with Oliver, but why didn't you invite me?" David laughed.

"Okay, I'll invite you next time." Cassie quickly found an excuse to end the call.

When she turned around, she saw Joseph standing behind her with Oliver and Sophia.

Joseph looked at her intently. "David wants you to go back?"

"It's late, and Oliver and Sophia have kindergarten tomorrow." Cassie brushed her hair behind her ear.

"Alright, you go back then. Sophia usually stays with me anyway. Tonight, I'll take Oliver too, and I'll drop them both off at kindergarten in the morning."

Joseph, sensing her hesitation, added, "Don't worry. I'm not trying to take them from you. I just think since you're sending Oliver to Robert's place anyway, it's better for him to come with me. It's more convenient."

Cassie frowned. Snowford Evergreen was indeed a 40-50 minute drive, quite far. "Oliver, what do you think?"

Oliver pursed his lips in silence, but Sophia had already grabbed his hand. "Oliver, sleep with me tonight. We haven't slept together in a long time. Let's go to grandpa's together tomorrow, okay?"

"Okay." Oliver finally nodded.

"Alright then," Cassie said, having nothing more to add.

After leaving the gym, she got into her car and drove away alone.

In the rearview mirror, she saw Joseph holding Oliver and Sophia's hands. For some reason, it felt like her heart was left behind.

She actually wanted to stay and be with them.

However, since Oliver and Sophia didn't want to go to David's villa, she couldn't force them.

Not long after Cassie left, Nathaniel drove over to pick up Joseph and the kids.

He quickly took the three of them to the Hernandez family villa.

It was late, and everyone in the Hernandez family was already asleep. Joseph didn't wake them but took Oliver and Sophia to his room, giving them a bath.

Although Oliver was a bit uncomfortable and resistant, he gradually relaxed because of Sophia's playful antics.

While Oliver and Sophia were playing in the bathtub, Joseph took a photo and sent it to Cassie.

Cassie had just arrived at the villa. Looking at the photo, under the warm light, Sophia smiled sweetly, and Oliver's face was wet, but his eyes showed a faint smile.

This scene was so heartwarming it made her heart ache.

When she was first pregnant, she had fantasized about such a scene. Joseph doting on her, Oliver and Sophia being healthy and lively.

Now, Oliver and Sophia were back with Joseph, and she had married David. However, staying at this villa, she felt a coldness that made her uneasy and resistant.

Suddenly, Joseph sent a text: [Cassie, thank you for giving me these two adorable angels. I may never be able to make up for my regrets in this life, but I am truly grateful to you and will always love you. In this life, besides you, I will never marry anyone else. I will always wait for you.]
