Chapter 828

Cassie glanced down, a slight smile on her lips. Although she should have been shy, she had used this trick with Joseph when they first moved in together in Madison.

She thought, ‘Come on. Don’t act like you've never seen a woman before.’

"Okay," Cassie answered.

Half-biting her pink lips, she went to the bedroom to wash her face and brush her teeth, and then came out after changing clothes.

Joseph sat at the dining table, with breakfast brought from a well-known breakfast restaurant.

"This is a hearty breakfast prepared for you by the best chef I hired," Joseph introduced one by one.

Cassie felt the fragrance was tasty just by smelling it.
She picked up a fork and started eating. After a while, she noticed that Joseph wasn't eating much.

"You're not eating," she then asked.

"I have no appetite," Joseph explained. What he said was the truth. Apart from what Cassie made, he wasn't very interested in anything else.

"That won't do. Let me feed you," Cassie comforted softly.

Mischievously raised an eyebrow, Cassie picked up a piece of pizza with her fork and ate half of it with her mouth, with the other half leaning towards Joseph.

Joseph held his breath. At close range, he could see her long eyelashes. Cassie seemed to be planning to feed him with her mouth.

Initially having no appetite for this breakfast, Joseph now felt eager. He leaned down and bit off the other half.

"Is it tasty now?" Cassie asked, her long hair loose. She looked at Joseph with a smile, her eyes shimmering like the morning sun.

"Yes," he then answered.

Unable to resist any longer, Joseph pulled Cassie onto his lap, burying his face deeply in the nape of her neck. He found Cassie so charming. They used to argue every day, but now he realized how attractive Cassie truly was.

Just a few days ago, Joseph only liked Cassie, but now he found himself really liking her, even... loving her.

It was as if Joseph was always meant to like Cassie.

"Cassie, even if you want to retaliate against me, I still want to be with you," Joseph whispered into her neck.

Cassie was shocked, turning to look at Joseph. She asked, "What are you saying?"

"I just feel like I've done a lot of bad things to hurt you in the past," Joseph answered and cupped Cassie's face gently. "Cassie, even if you hate me and want to retaliate against me, I won't let go."

"Joseph, listen. I do hate you and I want to retaliate against you, but what I really want to retaliate against is Megan. I want to take you away and hold you firmly in my hand so that Megan will be miserable and unhappy," Cassie explained.
She hugged Joseph's neck, her gaze calm. "Do you think my revenge is good?" Cassie added.

Joseph was at a loss for words for a moment.

In fact, Joseph hoped that Megan could let go sooner rather than later instead of living in pain, or he would feel remorse as well.

"Never mind. I know Megan has been with you for twenty years, which is something I can't compare to." Cassie sighed and suddenly leaned against Joseph's chest, using her hair to brush against his Adam's apple like a fairy. "Of course, if it weren't for Megan, your illness wouldn't have been cured. It's normal for you to feel guilty towards her."

"Yes." Cassie's hair tickled Joseph's throat, making him realize how wonderful it was to have a woman lying in his arms.
