Chapter 43 Don't need you

Cassie glanced at the small box in the salesperson's hand, her face blushing. "No, we don't need them."

"Are you newlyweds planning to have kids?" the salesperson asked knowingly.

"Yes," Cassie replied vaguely, afraid the salesperson would keep pushing. She pulled Joseph forward.

"We're planning to have kids?" Joseph gave her a meaningful sidelong glance.

"I was just bluffing. Do you plan to use them?" Cassie replied casually.

"Don't dream about it. Even if I did, it wouldn't be with you," Joseph said harshly, though he recalled Cassie's seductive look in bed, his throat inexplicably heating up.

Cassie sneered inwardly, 'Do you think I'm eager to use them with you?'

After leaving the supermarket, Joseph drove back to Emerald Bay.

Cassie made lunch, and after eating, Joseph and Dakota lounged on the sofa, resting lazily. "What are your plans next? Continue job hunting?"

"No, I want to get my phone card replaced this afternoon."

"There's no rush. If it doesn't work out, you can stay home and cook for me. You won't lack money," Joseph said, putting on his coat.

Cassie was stunned. "Are you going to work now?"

"There are still a lot of things to do at the company."

After he left, Cassie checked the time; it was only one o'clock.

She sighed, thinking that being a boss wasn't easy. He didn't even have time for a lunch break. He must have come to pick her up amidst his busy schedule this morning.

In the afternoon, after she got her phone card replaced, she found over a dozen missed calls on her phone.

There were calls from Laura, Robert, and Helen, among others.

Were they calling to check on her after hearing about what happened that day?

She felt a bit hopeful. Regardless of the reason, she decided to call Helen back. "Mom."

"You finally answered my call," Helen's angry voice came through. "How long are you planning to stay out? Come home right now."

Cassie's heart ached. "Is that still my home?"

"Cassie, if you don't come back now, don't ever come back. Don't even think of recognizing me and your dad." Helen hung up after saying that.

Cassie hesitated for a moment but finally decided to go home.

No matter what, Robert and Helen had raised her, and she needed to show them Matthew's recording to reveal Olivia's true colors.

An hour later, she drove back to the Brooks Villa.

It had only been a little over a month since she last came back, but it felt like everything had changed.

She parked the car and walked inside. In the living room, Robert, Helen, and Olivia were all there.

As she saw Olivia's face, a surge of hatred welled up in her. "Dad, Mom, do you know Olivia plagiarized my work?"

"Cassie, it's one thing to slander me outside, but do you have to tarnish my name in front of Dad and Mom?" Olivia said with a bitter smile. "I told you I didn't do it."

Helen frowned. "Do you have to come back and cause trouble for Olivia? When will it end?"

"I have evidence," Cassie said, immediately taking out her phone and playing the recording.
