Chapter 609
Was it even conceivable for a superior to accompany a subordinate to a medical consultation? Surely they didn't take Cassie for a fool?
A beautiful curve graced Cassie's red lips. "I have a remedy for this predicament," she declared.
"Indeed? You have the solution, are you a physician?" Joseph's eyebrows knitted together, his expression a blend of resolve and scorn.
"Take Viagra," Cassie suggested, a mischievous smile playing on her lips as she glanced upward.
A laugh escaped Nathaniel, unable to contain his amusement. Joseph shot him a dark look, causing Nathaniel to respond hastily, wincing, "I've already tried it, it didn't work."
"I see," Cassie replied, her gaze on Joseph loaded with meaning.
"Why are you staring at me? I haven't taken it." Joseph wished he could kick Cassie out of the elevator.
"I never claimed you did," Cassie's vibrant eyes sparkled as she smiled, reminiscent of a crescent moon.
A flutter stirred in Joseph's heart, his mind involuntarily flashing back to Cassie's once marred face. He had to concede, Cassie was stunning now. Had she smiled like this in the past, perhaps he wouldn't have despised her as much.
After a pause, Cassie continued, her smile unwavering, "You should still seek treatment for your ailment. After all, if you remain uncured, your girlfriend might look elsewhere for satisfaction." Her gaze remained fixed on Joseph as she spoke.
"Do you believe all women are as promiscuous as you?" Joseph, irritated by Cassie's unwavering gaze, retorted.
"Am I promiscuous?" Cassie pointed at herself, her smile unbroken.
Deciding it was futile to engage with such a person, Joseph resigned. He had clearly exposed himself, yet he had the audacity to label her promiscuous.
"Fine, believe what you will, I have no desire to argue with you." As the elevator doors opened, Cassie exited without hesitation.
Watching Cassie's retreating figure, Joseph turned to Nathaniel, his face stern. "New York is teeming with hospitals, why did you insist on bringing me here for treatment?"
Nathaniel felt a lump in his throat, "You expressed your reluctance to visit Lucas' hospital, so I brought you here. This hospital may be new, but the urologist is really famous."
"Get lost," Joseph shot Nathaniel a fierce glare before striding out of the elevator. Could anything be more mortifying than running into his ex-wife at a urology department? He cursed under his breath.
Once Cassie had left the hospital, she drove directly to Peace Group. After three years, the receptionist had changed several times over.
As Cassie entered, the receptionist immediately intercepted her, "Who are you? Do you have an appointment?"
"I don't have an appointment," Cassie removed her sunglasses, revealing a stunning face. "But I wish to see your CEO."
The receptionist stared blankly at her before scoffing, "Without an appointment, you're not qualified to see our CEO. Do you believe dressing well entitles you to meet anyone? You're no celebrity like Sarah."
"Sarah?" Cassie arched an eyebrow.
"Sarah is our group's new spokesperson. Leave, just leave," the receptionist dismissed impatiently.
Cassie's smile faltered slightly, "So, who is your CEO now?"
"You wish to meet our CEO yet you don't even know who she is. Let me enlighten you, our CEO is Megan. She is Joseph's fiancée and is about to take office." With each word, the receptionist's tone grew colder, causing a chill to creep into Cassie's eyes, her aura of authority making the receptionist increasingly uncomfortable.
Suddenly, a trembling voice from behind Cassie asked, " Cassie?"
Cassie turned to find a man in his forties, his beard unkempt and hair slightly long, giving off a somewhat disheveled appearance.
"Jan, how have you aged so much?" Cassie widened her eyes in surprise, a smile gracing her lips.
" Cassie, it's truly you. The rumors online were true. You didn't die?" Jan looked at her excitedly, his eyes welling with emotion.
"Yes, I'm alive," Cassie glanced at Jan's name badge, her brows furrowing. "How did a competent assistant to the chairman end up as a warehouse manager?"
