Chapter 1601 Cassie Is So Cunning
The lawyer was silent.
He was speechless.
He didn't understand what Michael owed Megan. He had given her so much money at the wedding, and even after the divorce, there was a hundred million dollars and a mansion. The properties Michael invested in were in prime locations with great potential for appreciation.
Michael was very generous to Megan, but he wouldn't give a cent to his ex-wife and kid.
Despite having worked for all kinds of people, the lawyer had rarely seen someone as clueless as Michael.
But he couldn't say that out loud, after all, he and Michael were not friends, just business partners.
"By the way, let's also transfer the villa we're living in now to her," Michael added.
The lawyer was completely speechless.
The Hernandez House
Cassie couldn't help but laugh when she saw the copy of the divorce agreement in her hand, her laughter filled with endless sarcasm.
"Darling, if you want to curse, just curse. I heard that fifty million dollars of it was borrowed from James," Joseph said helplessly, hugging her.
Joseph had copied the agreement from Michael's private lawyer. The lawyer circle was small, and given his status in the legal community, obtaining this information was easy.
To be honest, Joseph didn't know what to say when he saw the content; he was just speechless.
"What's there to be angry about," Cassie sneered, "It's not like I just found out today that he's out of his mind. The more guilty and generous Michael is to Megan, the more interesting it will be when the truth comes out."
"So when do you plan to reveal the truth?" Joseph asked curiously, "They're planning to divorce tomorrow."
"I originally planned to reveal it on the eve of their divorce," Cassie smiled mysteriously, "But after seeing this agreement, I plan to reveal it after they divorce."
Joseph frowned, "The money will be in Megan's hands after the divorce."
"Do you remember when you broke off your engagement with Megan?" Cassie looked at him with a half-smile, "Speaking of which, you and Michael were indeed good friends, doing the same kind of stupid things."
Joseph rubbed his temples, feeling very awkward. That was a part of his past he didn't want to recall.
"Forget it, I don't want to hold it against you anymore, but I remember you and Megan fought a long legal battle over money. To be honest, it was quite a spectacle to see two people who were once about to get married end up breaking up over money," Cassie said gloatingly.
Joseph was silent.
What could he say? After all, Cassie was so cunning.
Seeing his silence, Cassie gently brushed his pajama collar, "Joey, do you think I'm wrong?"
"No, you're absolutely right," Joseph thick-skinnedly agreed, "When I was fighting Megan in court, Michael was helping her, frequently trying to persuade me to give up the money. Now that you mention it, I'm also looking forward to him tasting what I went through."
Cassie was very satisfied with his cooperation, curling her red lips, "You're much luckier than him. The pain he will experience will be a thousand times, ten thousand times more bitter than yours. As for Megan, if she wants that money, it depends on whether she has the ability to leave Madison with it."
The next day
Michael handed the agreement drafted by the lawyer to Megan, "You said you wanted to go to Austin for treatment, so I gave you a villa and an apartment, both in great locations, especially the apartment, which is in the city center. Additionally, there's a hundred million dollars. This is the most I can give you. I've given you all the cash I have, and I even borrowed fifty million dollars from my dad."
"How could you borrow that money from your dad?" Megan quickly said tearfully, "No, I can't take it. The company is at a critical time. If you give me the money, what will you do?"
"I've invested in some projects over the years. At worst, I can sell them and still have money."
Michael was secretly moved by her understanding, and he was even more determined. Although he didn't love her and didn't want to be with her, since they had been married, he felt he had to be responsible for her future.
"Alright, don't say any more. My mind is made up. Take this money and get well." Michael said, "Also, this villa is transferred to you. You can sell it or keep it. I hope that when you return to Madison in the future, you'll have a place to stay."
"Michael, you're too good," Megan cried, covering her face, "I will never forget you. Even if you don't love me anymore, I will always love you. Actually, I really don't want to divorce you, but if I don't let go, you won't be happy."
Michael's thin lips parted slightly, feeling very uncomfortable.
Facing such a deeply loving Megan, he almost said they shouldn't divorce.
But thinking of Laura and Maeve, he gave up.
He was too tired and didn't want to drag it out any longer.
They divorced and hugged goodbye at the door.
"I'll leave the divorce matters to the lawyer. You just rest at home. By the way, when do you plan to go abroad? I'll arrange for someone to take you there."
"No need," Megan quickly lowered her head, "I really don't want to trouble you anymore. I have one or two friends in Austin. When I get there, they'll pick me up. I plan to leave once I get the divorce decree."
"Anyway, if you need any help, you can contact me anytime." Michael patted her head and felt a huge sense of relief as he walked out of the villa.
As he left, he saw a Lamborghini parked across the street from the house, but he didn't pay much attention to it. After all, this was a wealthy area with many villas.
He didn't know that after Megan went upstairs, she smiled triumphantly with the check in her hand, "A hundred million dollars, great. I didn't expect that useless Michael to give me a hundred million dollars after the divorce. It was worth the act."
After putting away the check, she eagerly called Landon, "Honey, I've divorced Michael. In a few days, I can go to your country with you. Are you happy?"
"Of course I'm happy, baby. I can finally marry you openly," Landon said gently.
"But I'm afraid your parents won't agree. I'm a divorced woman."
"It doesn't matter. My parents have always spoiled me. As long as I insist, they can't do anything about it. Anyway, I must marry you."
Megan was overjoyed. Since Landon was already in her grasp, if his parents didn't agree, she would elope with Landon to another country. After all, Landon had plenty of money, and once they were married, it would be joint property.
She had everything planned out beautifully and at this moment, she couldn't wait to go abroad.
In the Lamborghini at the villa's entrance, Landon hung up the phone and disgustedly tossed his phone aside.
He started the car and left.
Halfway through, his phone rang again. It was an unknown number.
