Chapter 920 Cassie Is Quite Good at Flirting with Men
"Being as beautiful as I am, it's normal to attract creepy people," Laura said blankly. "No, wait, Nathan was there yesterday too. It must be that scumbag."
Cassie was momentarily shocked but quickly understood.
"That makes sense. A guy like him dared to barge into your house back then, so it's not surprising he tried something at the press conference yesterday. He probably thinks that with Megan clinging to Michael, he can do whatever he wants. As long as Megan is here, Michael won't dare to do anything to him," Cassie said.
"He's too arrogant." Laura's teeth chattered with anger. "Did I have a grudge against this disgusting man in my past life?"
"First, it's naturally because of your looks; second, maybe he wants to marry you." Cassie analyzed rationally. "You're now a top-notch formulator, and under your brother's management, the Miller family business is thriving. The Zenith Group is able to hold on because of Joseph's connections. Now that without Joseph and Michael isn't that capable, Nathan probably thinks you're barely enough for him. He wouldn't mind sleeping with you and then marrying you."
"Barely enough for him?" Laura was speechless. "A scumbag like him, no decent woman in all of Madison would want to marry him."
Cassie chuckled lightly and said, "Don't say that. People like Nathan and his sister are actually quite confident. They might think we can't even compare to them."
Laura thought about it and realized it was possible. The more she thought about it, the more disgusted she felt.
"I bet Megan knows about this too," Cassie said. "She doesn't like you either. She probably wants Nathan to ruin you, then marry you so she can torment you and get back at me. But I bet they didn't expect you to sleep with Michael. Megan must be furious now."
"Two bastards!" Laura trembled with rage. "I won't let them get away with this. I've decided to be Michael's fiancée. As long as the Jude family recognizes me, Megan will be the home wrecker everyone despises."
Cassie looked helpless. She had to admit that Laura didn't have many choices at this point.
"For now, you're just his fiancée. You can break off the engagement later. By then, Michael will still be entangled with Megan. After a while, you can say that Michael has been kept cheating on you during the engagement, and you have decide to break it off. You'll gain public sympathy, and Megan and Michael will be disgraced," Cassie remarked.
"Cassie, that's brilliant." Laura gave a thumbs-up. "Not only do I want to teach Megan a lesson, but also Michael. That idiot had the nerve to accuse me of seducing him this morning. But Michael won't admit I'm his fiancée, will he?"
"Don't worry. The Jude family has already acknowledged you. Plus, reporters have photos of you two in bed. If he denies it, you can cry to the reporters and say, "When Michael coaxed me into bed, he didn't say that. He said I was capable, had a great body, and was beautiful. Otherwise, I wouldn't have willingly returned to the Ocean Blue group for him."
Cassie shared her wisdom generously.
Laura was completely stunned. "Cassie, I realize... you're quite cunning now."
Cassie rolled her eyes at her. "After dealing with cunning women for so long, I've learned their tricks. You should learn, too."
"That's awesome. No wonder Megan ended up defeated by you." Laura gave a thumbs-up.
"You are overthinking. She is not my defeated opponent; I have always lost to her. Otherwise, Spencer wouldn't have lost his finger because of her," Cassie said with a bitter smile, a pain she found hardest to accept.
Laura didn't know what to say, and just then, Luke called. "Laura, you idiot! How could you sleep with another man before getting married? What have I taught you? And it's not like you don't have men to sleep with. Michael already has a girlfriend."
"Dad, you misunderstood. I was framed," Laura explained helplessly, recounting the whole story.
Luke was silent for a long time before saying. "In that case, Michael has to take responsibility. The Jude family has already contacted me. Your mom and I will come to Whisperlyn City today to have a meal with the Jude family."
Laura didn't expect the Jude family to act so quickly. After thinking for a moment, she hurriedly told Luke her plan.
Luke was furious when he heard it. "What? Michael said you seduced him? My daughter is so beautiful, and he still looks down on you. Fine, do whatever you want. The Jude family may be prestigious, but we, the Miller family, never intended to climb up to them. We'll play along with your plan, your mom and I."
"Thanks, Dad," Laura said, blowing a kiss over the phone.
Cassie, watching from the side, felt a bit envious. She truly envied Laura's family atmosphere, having been loved by her parents and brother since childhood. Unlike her, even though she now had Aiden, it still couldn't compare to the Miller family.
At Seaside Haven, Michael drove in hurriedly, only to find Megan sitting on the sofa, crying her eyes out.
"Why are you here? Go away, I don't want to see you," Megan snapped at Michael, crying and shouting. "Who said he would be good to me for life, only to turn around and be with another woman? The thing I hate most in my life is betrayal."
"Megan, I'm sorry. I can explain," Michael said.
Michael was initially a bit angry, but he panicked when he saw her tear-streaked face.
"Last night, Laura was framed by Nathan. Julia threw me over there to help her. I was drunk and had no idea what was happening," he then explained.
"Nathan?" Megan was shocked, not expecting Michael to find out so quickly. "This... this can't be."
"My sister saw it with her own eyes. When I tried to find Nathan, I discovered he had fled abroad. He's clearly guilty." Michael was very angry. "Megan, why did you bring Nathan over last night? No matter what, Laura is the director of the Ocean Blue group. This is outrageous. Don't associate with him anymore. I never want to see Nathan again."
"Are you blaming me? I'm the victim here, okay?" Megan felt even more aggrieved, her tears falling more heavily. "I don't want a brother like that either, but what can I do? This is God's arrangement. If I had known, I would have stopped him."
"I'm not blaming you," Michael said with a bitter smile. "Megan, I just want you to understand that I didn't betray you on purpose."
"Stop talking," Megan said, her eyes red as she pushed him away. "Your dad said Laura is their chosen fiancée, and I'm just a home wrecker. I don't want to meddle between you two anymore."
