Chapter 1133 Lucas Cares So Much About Bernice
"Alright, I get it. Get lost," Lucas said flatly.
Most people might think Lucas didn't care, but Sarah knew him well enough to see through it.
The angrier Lucas got, the more indifferent he looked.
She couldn't believe Lucas cared so much about Bernice. She was fuming but managed to stay composed. Luckily, "The Whispering Shadows" was about to start filming, and Bernice was cast as the second female lead. Sarah was determined to make Bernice's life difficult and show her the consequences of messing with Lucas.
Not long after Sarah left, Lucas kicked the table hard.
The large table wobbled.
His handsome face was clouded with anger.
When Max walked in and saw the blood at the corner of Lucas's mouth, he gasped and laughed, "You said you wanted to talk to Bernice in my office. Were you talking or making out? If I'd known, I'd have brought some condoms."
Lucas shot him a cold glance. "I heard Bernice used to be with Gary?"
Max was taken aback but nodded. "Yeah."
As soon as he said it, the tension in the room skyrocketed.
"Why didn't you tell me before?" Lucas's eyes flashed with disgust.
"You never cared if a woman was a virgin or not," Max said awkwardly.
Lucas didn't usually care, but the thought of Bernice being with someone else made him agitated.
He thought, 'Isn't she supposed to be aloof? Yet she let Gary keep her? She's a hypocrite. She was probably acting all high and mighty in front of me as part of her scheme. Damn it! I just kissed her. I'm such an idiot!'
"Forget it, it's better if you don't get involved with her," Max said suddenly. "Gary used to treat her like gold, and Bernice seemed genuinely in love with him. Ever since she attempted suicide for Gary two years ago, she's changed."
"Suicide?" Lucas was shocked. With Bernice's personality, he couldn't imagine her being the type to commit suicide.
"I don't know the details. Her agent said she was dying at the time. But when I visited her in the hospital, I ran into Gary. He said Bernice attempted suicide to win him back, and the wounds weren't even that serious. He was pretty angry and left. He got engaged right after that."
Max handed a cigarette to Lucas.
Lucas took it and played with it, his long eyelashes casting a shadow over his eyes.
He laughed coldly, his disgust growing stronger.
He hadn't expected Bernice to be such a despicable, unscrupulous woman.
"After that, Bernice seemed like a different person," Max laughed. "She became hardworking, ambitious, and cold. Even her acting skills improved. I actually like her this way; at least she's the company's most profitable artist right now."
"Enough!" Lucas stood up in disgust.
Originally, he had some unusual feelings for Bernice, but now even those were gone.
A woman like Bernice was too scheming and would be a huge headache if provoked.
Still, Lucas felt a strange heaviness in his chest.
After getting into the car, his phone rang. It was Michael. "Did you talk to Bernice?"
"I forgot," Lucas said coldly. "Don't mention her to me again."
"What's wrong with her?" Michael asked, confused.
"I looked into her past. It's full of scandals. Laura should stay away from her," Lucas said and hung up.
He lit another cigarette and sat in the car, smoking slowly.
Apart from the taste of tobacco, there was also the lingering scent of Bernice's lips.
At eleven in the morning, Joseph drove to Seaside Haven.
He was driving an excavator.
Megan came out looking haggard and nearly broke down when she heard the rumbling outside. "Joseph, what are you doing?"
Her favorite flowers and plants were being crushed by the excavator.
Joseph, wearing sunglasses, opened a window and stuck out his handsome face. "I'm destroying it. The judge said yesterday you have to return the villa to me. You've occupied the home I shared with Cassie for years. I just want to destroy it immediately."
"Joseph, you!" Megan was trembling with anger.
"This place no longer belongs to you," Joseph said. "No, it never belonged to you. Get out."
"The court gave me a week. You have no right to make me leave," Megan shouted.
"Fine, you can stay for a week, but the court didn't say I couldn't destroy this place. If you want to stay, go ahead, as long as you don't mind sleeping in the ruins." Joseph sneered and started the excavator again.
The excavator's arm crashed into the floor-to-ceiling windows, tearing down the entire window.
Megan became frantic. "Stop it, Joseph! Enough! Give me an hour, and I'll move out."
She still had many designer bags, clothes, and jewelry inside that she hadn't packed yet.
"I'll give you ten minutes at most," Joseph said coldly.
"You!"
"Nine minutes." Joseph raised an eyebrow.
Megan was so angry, but she feared that if she said more, it would be down to eight minutes.
She rushed inside and started packing her most valuable jewelry into boxes. But before she could finish, the excavator had already entered the living room.
"Joseph, you lunatic!" Megan ran out of the bedroom in a frenzy.
"Nine minutes are up," Joseph said, looking at the box in her hand. A valuable necklace was caught in the zipper, and his eyes flashed with disgust.
Megan was obsessed with money.
Thinking that Megan was his first love, Joseph almost barfed.
Joseph operated the excavator again, quickly demolishing the entire villa.
Megan stood outside, watching the scene, her eyes red with rage.
She cursed inwardly, 'Joseph, just wait. I will make you regret ever crossing me.'
She left with her box, her hair disheveled.
