Joseph was too angry to speak. If Michael weren't his best friend, he would have beaten him to a pulp.
"Joseph, I never used any hypnosis on you." Megan sobbed. "I've never even heard of hypnosis that can alter someone's feelings. If I could do that, I would have used it to keep you from leaving me."
"Did you hear that?" Michael said, holding Megan tightly. "Joseph, if you ever treat Megan like that again, I would call the police."
"Don't call them," Megan said urgently. "Joseph is already being sued. If we report that he tried to kill me, he might end up in jail."
"Did you hear that? Megan is still thinking about you," Michael said, feeling even more distressed. "Megan is such a kind person, and you frame her for using hypnosis on you. Joseph, you really let Megan down."
Joseph was very frustrated. Now, he could fully understand how Cassie felt when she faced him before. It was like trying desperately to wake someone from a deep sleep, only for them to ignore you and think you're disturbing their rest. And Megan was utterly disgusting.
She made Joseph so disgusted that he wanted to slap himself. How could he have been so stupid before to not see through such a vile person?
"Michael, Megan will be the death of you sooner or later," Joseph warned through gritted teeth.
"Joseph, how did you become like this? It's fine if you don't want Megan, but you can't stop me from being with her," Michael said, frowning deeply. "Megan is my bottom line. If this happens again, I don't care if we were friends before. I'll call the police and handle it according to the law."
"Fine." Joseph nodded. "I won't argue with you. Megan, within two days, return all the money I gave you, including all the expenses over the past three years. If you don't, my lawyer will send you a notice."
Megan said sorrowfully, "Joseph, are you still the Joseph I knew?"
Michael was also furious. "Joseph, you're shameless. How can you take back what you gave?"

Megan's face turned pale, as returning all the money was like asking for her life.
Without that money, how could Megan maintain her high-spending lifestyle? The wealthy ladies of Whisperlyn City would never associate with her again.
"But last time, Joseph lost the lawsuit against Cassie," Megan muttered.
"That's because Joseph stopped arguing later. With his eloquence, he can twist the truth in court," Michael thought for a moment and said. "I'll talk to Lucas and see if he can persuade Joseph. If it doesn't work, you might have to return the real estate to Joseph. After that, we'll keep our distance from him, even if it means cutting ties."
Michael felt deeply disappointed in the current Joseph, while Megan felt very upset hearing this.
