Chapter 1031 He Only Wanted to Stay with Cassie

Arthur stormed out of the CEO's office, still fuming and torn up inside. David and Cassie both meant a lot to him, so what was he supposed to do?

In the end, he headed to the secretary's office. Just as he was about to step in, he bumped into Lola coming out. She quickly looked down, clearly panicked.

"How long have you been David's mistress?" Arthur demanded, his eyes cold.

"Mr. Lewis, please don't ask. I've always admired Mr. Foster; it was me who seduced him," Lola said, pretending to be sad. "Mr. Foster just called me to his office. He probably wants me to leave."

"You seduced a married man. That's shameless and despicable," Arthur snapped.

Lola bit her lip, pretending to choke up. "I'm sorry, Mr. Lewis. I won't do it again."

"Get out," Arthur ordered. As she left, he noticed the diamond necklace she was wearing. It looked just like the one Kayla had bought a few days ago, a top international luxury brand worth over twenty thousand dollars.

Arthur thought, 'How could a secretary afford such expensive things? David said Lola seduced him, but he was so generous to her.'

He felt a pang of sadness for Cassie.

After Lola left, he called Cassie while heading downstairs.

At the Peace Group, Cassie had just come up from the marketing department when her phone rang. It was Arthur. She hadn't heard from him since she married David three years ago.

"Hello, Arthur," she answered.

"Cassie, are you busy?" Arthur asked quietly. "Where are you?"

"Not really. I'm at the office. I have something important to discuss with you. Can I come to your office now?" he asked cautiously.

His tone made Cassie feel uneasy. "Okay, I'll inform the front desk. You can come up directly."

"By the way, don't tell David that I'm coming to see you," Arthur added.

"Okay," Cassie replied, puzzled. 'Why doesn't he want me to tell David? Does Arthur want to pursue me again? No, he's married. If he wanted me back, he would've done it long ago. Besides, I'm married to David now. If Arthur did something like that, the Foster family would be furious. He probably really has something important to discuss.'

After ending the call, Arthur drove to the Peace Group. Halfway there, he realized the brakes had failed. The car sped out of control, and he desperately grabbed the steering wheel, trying to avoid hitting other vehicles.

The car kept accelerating. When it reached nearly 200 mph, he knew he couldn't control it anymore. As he was about to crash into a bus, he turned the steering wheel hard, and the car smashed into a wall with a loud bang.

Arthur's vision went black as blood trickled down from his head. Blood gushed from his throat, and his pupils dilated. He knew this couldn't be a coincidence.

'David is terrifying. If he could harm me, what about Cassie?' he thought.

Trapped and unable to move, Arthur used all his strength to grab his phone and sent a message to Cassie: [Be careful]. But before he could finish typing, the engine hood caught fire. Unable to escape, he desperately threw the phone out the window. Tears mixed with blood slid down his face.

He regretted everything. If he could live his life over again, he would never have been with Olivia. He only wanted to be with Cassie. But in this life, they were destined to be apart.

In her office, Cassie was drinking water when her hand suddenly shook, and the cup slipped from her grasp, shattering on the ground. She rubbed her temples, feeling inexplicably uneasy. She called the kindergarten teacher, who assured her that Oliver and Sophia were fine, which put her at ease.

Arthur said he was coming, but why hadn't he arrived yet? She got busy with a senior executive and forgot about it until five in the afternoon when she was about to leave work. Coco suddenly came in and said, "Mrs. Brooks, there's a woman named Kathleen downstairs in the lobby looking for you. She's furious, crying, and making a scene. She says you caused Arthur's death and wants to kill you and die with you."

Cassie was stunned. 'How could I have caused Arthur's death? Arthur is dead?' Her heart skipped a beat. "I'll go down and take a look."

"Mrs. Brooks, it might not be safe. She has a knife," Coco said hesitantly.

Cassie felt even more uneasy. Kathleen wouldn't go crazy for no reason; something must have happened to Arthur. "I'll be careful." She hurried downstairs.

Coco watched her with concern. After a moment, she called David but couldn't get through, so she finally called Joseph.

When Cassie arrived at the lobby, it was already crowded. Kathleen was sitting on the ground, holding a knife, crying hysterically, "Cassie, get out here. I don't want to live anymore, but if I die, I'll take you with me. You caused Arthur's death, and he died so horribly!"

The employees were pointing and whispering. Cassie walked over quickly. When Kathleen saw her, she jumped up and rushed at her with the knife. Two security guards rushed over and held her back. Cassie grabbed her wrist and took the knife, throwing it far away.

"Let me go," Kathleen glared at Cassie. "You wretch, why don't you die? Why did you have to mess with Arthur?"

"What happened to Arthur?" Cassie asked, looking at her intently.

"What happened to him?" Kathleen cried in despair. "He's dead. His last call was to you. He died on the way to your office. Can you say his death has nothing to do with you?"

Cassie's pupils widened, and her mind went blank for several seconds. "Arthur is dead," she murmured. "How come? I got his call this afternoon. He said he was coming to see me."

"You admit it. He was on his way to see you when he had a car accident. The car crashed into a tree and caught fire. His body was burned beyond recognition." Kathleen suddenly bent over and wailed.
