Chapter 1771 She actually has the mood to go on vacation?
Lucas sneered and looked up, "I'm injured right now. Do you expect me to greet you all warmly? If you were my mom, maybe, but her? She doesn't deserve it."
Erin was almost out of breath with anger. "We're concerned about you. Sarah is my lifesaver."
"Yeah, for your sake, I've given her all the resources she wanted. But she's still not satisfied and wants me to marry her and treat her kindly?"
Lucas had a mocking expression. "If it weren't for you needing her blood, do you think she could keep coming to me with demands?"
"You—"
"It's okay," Sarah stopped Erin, forcing a smile. "Mr. Nelson just got injured. It's understandable he's in a bad mood. I'll leave now and come back another day."
Sarah had originally wanted to stay, but Lucas's words were getting more and more venomous.
He hadn't been so obvious before.
Recently, Lucas had been looking down on her more and more.
She wasn't entirely shameless either.
"Alright, be careful on your way," Erin said, feeling quite guilty as she watched Sarah leave.
Once the room was empty except for the two of them, Erin walked over to Lucas, a bit angry. "Lucas, you really don't know how to respect people, do you? I understand that if I weren't your mom, given your status, I wouldn't have the right to say anything to you. I also don't understand where your father and I went wrong in raising you to be like this."
"What have I become?"
Lucas said, "If it weren't for me, the Nelson Group would have gone bankrupt long ago. You and Dad wouldn't be living comfortably in Whisperlyn City. And stop getting too close to Sarah. Blood transfusions are one thing, but she has ulterior motives."
Erin laughed in anger. "I'm not related to her, and she's donated blood to me so many times. Of course, I have to treat her well. Do you think she would donate blood to me for no reason? Would you?"
Erin continued, "Blood may not seem precious, but ours is quite rare. When she donates blood, she risks her own health. For the sake of benefits, she's practically risking her life. She's saved my life several times. You're my son, and it's normal for you to compensate her career-wise. There's no need to insult her so harshly."
"As long as she doesn't think about marrying me and keeps showing up in front of me, I won't bother insulting her," Lucas said, clearly annoyed by the lecture.
"I think you just don't respect women at all."
Erin said angrily, "You think you're so great, so you look down on women. Women in any industry have their own struggles. There's no need for you to feel superior. If you keep this attitude, those who care about you will eventually get fed up."
Lucas scoffed, "With my status, there will always be women throwing themselves at me."
"You're wrong. A woman truly worth cherishing will distance herself if you keep humiliating her."
Erin said, "Look at your friends. They have wives and children. None of them are like you. Maybe you think this lifestyle is fine, but when you're old, you'll realize you need someone who understands and cares for you. Then you'll feel lonely."
"Lucas, if you don't learn to respect others, you'll never gain genuine affection, at least not in relationships."
With that, Erin left.
Lucas leaned against the headboard, lost in thought for once.
Over the years, many women had come into his life. But he couldn't even remember most of their faces.
The only one he could clearly remember was Nina.
In fact, because of Nina, he had stopped believing in love.
Years had passed, and the truth was clear.
But in some ways, he had developed certain habits.
Moreover, whenever he thought of Nina, he would become extreme, irritable, unable to control his emotions.
If Nina were by his side, he wouldn't be like this, but she was already dead.Every time he thought of her, he felt a deep sense of despair.
After Lucas had been in the hospital for three days, Joseph found out and brought some fruit to visit him.
"Rare sight, seeing you in the hospital," Joseph said in surprise. "How did you get injured?"
Lucas's expression darkened. Why did everyone who came have to ask that question?
As the person involved, he was too embarrassed to say.
"Where's Cassie? Did she agree to let you visit me?" Lucas changed the subject, picking up an orange to peel. "Last time at the court, she didn't seem to like me much."
Joseph looked downcast. "She's been on vacation with the kids and Bernice in Crystalonia these past few days, showing off on Facebook every day. She's probably having the time of her life."
Lucas almost crushed the orange in his hand.
He was in the hospital getting IVs, and that damned woman Bernice had the nerve to go on vacation?
Didn't she realize she had been completely blacklisted in this circle?
Wasn't she anxious or trying to seek his forgiveness?
For the first time, Lucas found himself unable to understand Bernice.
"Let me see Cassie's Facebook," Lucas reached out.
"What are you up to?" Joseph looked at him warily.
"Relax, I'm not interested in Cassie. I just want to see what Bernice is up to," Lucas said, trying to control his anger.
Joseph noticed the way Lucas's temples were throbbing. It was rare to see the usually indifferent Lucas so emotionally affected by a woman.
Joseph raised an eyebrow in surprise. "Don't tell me you're falling for Bernice?"
"I'm very much falling for her," Lucas said with a cold smile. "I'm so moved I want to kill her."
Joseph found it even more intriguing. "Interesting. I've never seen you get so worked up over a woman. But you don't need to look at Cassie's Facebook. Just check Bernice's directly."
Joseph opened his phone and pulled up Bernice's latest Facebook post from the previous night.
Lucas was stunned. "You added Bernice on Facebook? How come I've never seen any of her posts?"
"Obviously, Bernice has blocked you," Joseph pointed out calmly.
Lucas fell silent.
He snatched Joseph's phone. Bernice's latest post was from last night, a group photo of her with Cassie, Sophia, and Oliver. Bernice was wearing a yellow swimsuit, her hair up, revealing her beautiful face, a slender waist, and a curvaceous body.
Sunlight fell on her face, and there was a faint smile in her eyes.
Below were various food photos she had posted.
Further back was a photo of her dragging her luggage at the airport.
She was wearing ordinary jeans and a T-shirt, yet she looked like she was in an advertisement.
As he scrolled further, there were various photos of Bernice in different outfits.
Lucas realized he had added Bernice on Facebook but had never seen any of these photos.
"Can I have my phone back now?" Joseph asked helplessly.
