Chapter 1179 Thank You for Still Loving Me

Joseph glared, frowning. "Alright, don't be jealous," Cassie said, turning his face to her. "Isn't it childish to be jealous of a kid?"

"You call a guy who can get a woman pregnant a kid?" Joseph snorted, jealousy clear in his eyes. "Cassie, you're lying again. I told you in Silverwood not to interact with him. You promised, but you lied and even had a barbecue with him."

"We didn't eat secretly; it was out in the open," Cassie pouted. "I ran into him while shopping. He said he just got to Whisperlyn City and didn't know anyone."

"There are plenty of new people in Whisperlyn City. Why have dinner with him?" Joseph retorted. "Is it because he's handsome?"

"Not really," Cassie lowered her head. "I just feel like I've known him before."

She quickly added, "Don't misunderstand. I don't like him. I see him as a brother. I love you."

"Love me?" Joseph stopped and looked at her deeply. "Prove it."

"Joseph, enough. You've hurt me so much. If it weren't for love, would I have gotten back with you?" Cassie, frustrated, shook off his hand and ignored him.

"Cassie, isn't part of the reason you got back with me because of Sophia and Oliver?" Joseph caught up, holding her hand. "If it weren't for them, you wouldn't have gotten back with me, right?"

Cassie was stunned and silent.

No matter what, the hurt Joseph caused was a scar, especially Nina's death, which made her feel guilty.

But she still got back with Joseph.

For Sophia and Oliver, she chose to.

"Forget it. You don't have to say it. I know." Joseph hugged her tightly. "I shouldn't ask for so much."

"Joseph, understand me. Since I agreed to get back with you, I won't betray you." Cassie pushed away and said seriously, "I admit, I got back with you because of Sophia and Oliver, but also because I love you. If one day I don't love you anymore, I'll tell you. I've been betrayed, so I know how painful it is."

"Cassie," Joseph's eyes were filled with surprise and confusion, "Thank you for still loving me. I'll work hard to make you love me forever. Please don't leave me."

"Sorry, Joseph. A lifetime is long. You once said we'd never part, but we did. I don't want to think about the future; I just want to cherish now." Cassie shook her head seriously. "Trying to believe in forever, if it breaks, that pain is bitter. Your memory is blurred; you haven't felt that, but I always remember."

"I get it," Joseph said, eyes downcast with guilt. "Cassie, I was angry because I was scared of losing you. If I lied about having dinner with a colleague and you found out it was with a young girl you didn't know, wouldn't you feel uncomfortable?"

Cassie bit her lip, imagining herself in his shoes. She realized she would feel uncomfortable too.

"Sorry, I won't meet him alone again."

"That's not necessary," Joseph said, patting her head and smiling. "Didn't you say you see him as a brother? I should trust you more. Just don't lie to me next time."

"You really don't mind?" Cassie was surprised.

"Just him, no more," Joseph said quietly. "Don't worry. Even though I agree to you meeting him, I won't have dinner dates with other young girls."

Cassie was touched. She stood on tiptoe, wrapped her arms around his neck, and kissed him. "Joey, thank you. Don't worry. The most I'll do is help Everett find a house. He really doesn't know much about Whisperlyn City. If he asks me to dinner, I'll invite you. If you don't go, I won't have dinner with him alone."

"Okay." Joseph felt as sweet as honey from her kiss.

If they weren't in public, he would have pulled her into a long, passionate kiss. "Cassie, did you say he's buying a house in Whisperlyn City?"

"Yes, he said his parents are moving back here for a while," Cassie replied.

"Do you know what his family does?" Joseph asked.

"He said they run a bank, but I'm not sure. After all, he's so young," Cassie thought for a moment. "Oh, right, I saw he has a black card like yours, so he must be someone important."

Joseph raised an eyebrow. "Cassie, the black card is issued by Luminara, and there are only fifty of them worldwide. Only people from old, established families can get one. The Chamberlain family recently became the top family in Madison, but Marcus couldn't get one because the Chamberlain family rose too quickly."

Cassie was stunned. "You mean Everett comes from a top family?"

"Probably more than that," Joseph said, frowning. "If his parents are coming to Madison, their status might be higher than mine. Such a powerful family suddenly coming to Madison, Whisperlyn City might not be peaceful."

Cassie's eyes lit up. "Right, you asked if he's from the Wittelsbach family in Neya City. Have you heard of that surname?"

Joseph nodded, deep in thought. He remembered Cassie saying she felt a sense of familiarity with Everett.

He pondered, 'Can someone suddenly feel that way about another person? Could Everett be from the Wittelsbach family? Why is he suddenly here? And why does he keep running into Cassie?'

"Joey, stop overthinking," Cassie said, pulling his hand. "I think Everett is a good person. Even if his family comes to Madison, you might just be business competitors—unless you're worried about losing the top spot in Madison."
