Chapter 1014 But I'm Available For You
Joseph cut her off, "Ms. Dixon, I saved you to avoid trouble with Ralph. I don't need your thanks or any repayment."
Marigold looked at him, surprised. Joseph's eyes were as calm as a deep lake, impossible to read.
But she could tell he meant it.
His honesty made her like him even more.
"What should I do?" Marigold sauntered over to the desk, leaning on it seductively.
Even sitting, Joseph could easily see down her blouse with just a glance.
But there was no desire in his eyes. Instead, he felt nauseated. "Ms. Dixon, you should look into my background. I have erectile dysfunction, so I won't waste your time."
"No way. You are so strong. How could you have erectile dysfunction?" Marigold reached out to grab him below.
Joseph's face changed, and he caught her wrist. If she weren't Ralph's daughter, he would've thrown her out long ago.
"I just wanted to check. Why are you so nervous?" Marigold pouted, showing no embarrassment. "Are you lying to me?"
"Check for yourself. When I was at the police station, I got injured and sent to the hospital." Joseph stood up and pushed her away. "I have weekly hospital visits on record."
Marigold looked at his serious expression, stunned. She couldn't believe such a high-quality man had sexual dysfunction.
"It's okay. I'll find someone to cure you." Marigold winked at him. "And a sexual life is not a must. I believe in you."
Joseph's handsome face darkened.
He thought he had never met someone so shameless.
Marigold chuckled and walked away gracefully.
Joseph rubbed his forehead and turned to Nathaniel. "If Marigold comes again, tell her I'm not here."
"Okay." Nathaniel was also speechless.
"By the way, give me your phone." Joseph reached out to Nathaniel.
"Mr. Hernandez, I bought you a new phone." Under Joseph's cold gaze, Nathaniel sighed and handed over his phone.
Joseph quickly dialed Cassie's number.
"Hello, Nathaniel." Cassie's gentle voice came through.
Joseph glared at Nathaniel, as she spoke so gently to Nathaniel.
Nathaniel looked innocent, pondering, 'What did I do wrong?'
"It's me." Joseph cleared his throat, and in a second, his handsome face turned incredibly gentle, making Nathaniel gape.
Cassie's voice immediately turned cold. "Why is it you again?"
Joseph, deeply despised, smiled. "Thanks for covering my medical expenses last night."
"If you're calling to repay me, I'll send my bank account number to Nathaniel's phone. Just transfer the money," Cassie interrupted him without hesitation.
Joseph paused for a few seconds, then quickly said, "Repaying the money isn't enough to express my gratitude. I know a nice restaurant. Are you free for lunch?"
"Thanks, but I'm not free," Cassie directly refused.
"Then when are you free? You set the time, and I'll adjust my schedule," Joseph immediately said.
Cassie, annoyed, said, "I'm never free for you."
"But I'm always free for you..." Before Joseph could finish, Cassie hung up.
Joseph looked at the phone and smiled. Within a minute, Nathaniel's phone buzzed with Cassie's bank account number.
Joseph used his phone to transfer a hefty sum.
In her office, Cassie saw the transfer and had no intention of returning it.
So what if it was more? She had been hurt by him deeply. When they divorced, Joseph didn't give her a cent. Now, even if it were millions, she wouldn't hesitate to take it.
At eleven in the morning, Laura called her, "I went to the Jude family this morning. James said yesterday's elevator accident was due to someone tampering with the cables. The Dixon family’s investigation points to Savannah."
"Savannah?" Cassie was surprised. "Last night, I saw her being egged on by the Chamberlain family. She's a fool. Could she do such a thing?"
"Yes, James said it might be related to the Chamberlain family. But the Chamberlain family shifted the evidence to Savannah. Besides, everyone saw Savannah arguing with Joseph last night. The police have already arrested Savannah for questioning," Laura replied.
Cassie clicked her tongue. "Looks like Savannah has become the Chamberlain family's scapegoat. But will Mr. Dixon let it go?"
"James said the Dixon family doesn't plan to pursue it," Laura said.
Cassie realized. "Looks like the Chamberlain family offered quite a bit this time."
"Probably. By the way, this morning Mr. Dixon also asked James about Joseph."
Cassie's heart skipped a beat. Last night, she noticed Marigold looking at Joseph differently.
"Cassie, do you think Joseph might become Mr. Dixon's son-in-law?" Laura gossiped. "If he becomes the future vice president's son-in-law, with Joseph's abilities, it should be easy for him to make a comeback."
"I don't know, and it's none of my business." Cassie coldly ended the call.
She thought, 'Any man in a desperate situation would choose to marry Marigold if given such an opportunity.'
She called Coco in and instructed, "For the next few days, make sure no one named Joseph gets in here."
Coco was stunned but quickly nodded. To complete Cassie's task, he even specifically instructed the reception and security.
At noon, Joseph really came, holding a bouquet of fresh roses and a lunchbox.
It was lunchtime, and many employees were out. Joseph stood at the door, insisting on seeing Cassie despite the security's obstruction.
"I must see her. She saved my life last night. I just want to thank her," Joseph said.
The receptionist was speechless. "I've never seen anyone thank their savior like you."
"Well, if she hadn't saved me last night, I'd be dead." Joseph saw the curious looks from the employees and smirked. "Aren't you curious how Mrs. Brooks saved me last night?"
The employees couldn't help but nod. Gossip was a natural instinct, and how a married women saved her ex-husband was particularly intriguing.
