" Cassie, you witch!" Vera's voice pierced the air, her words laced with venom. Bereft of any semblance of dignity, she was the very embodiment of hysteria.
Felix, too, was seething, his teeth grinding in silent fury. It was clear that Cassie had anticipated their every move, outmaneuvering them at every turn.
In truth, had Felix known of Luna's secret as Atlas's daughter, he would have never consented to their union. His initial plan was simple: allow Luna to ascend to the helm of the Leo Group, then gradually assimilate it into his own empire.
But Cassie's unexpected appearance had shattered his carefully laid plans.
The hollow echo of footsteps reverberated through the desolate parking lot, punctuating the tension that hung in the air.
Cassie took out her keys, pressing the small button on the fob. The white sports car parked nearby responded with a flash of lights, the doors unlocking with a soft click.
" Cassie."
The voice that followed was low and icy, sending a chill down the spine of anyone within earshot. Leo, quick to react, spun around and positioned himself between Cassie and the source of the voice.
"Joseph," he warned, his voice stern, "stay away from my daughter."
Joseph, seemingly unfazed by Leo's warning, continued his approach, his long strides carrying him closer to Cassie.
He was taken aback by Cassie's composed demeanor, especially considering her earlier interactions with the Madison family and the wealthiest man at the banquet.
It was becoming increasingly clear that everything that had transpired that night was part of Cassie's meticulously orchestrated plan.
