Chapter 947 David Found Her

When Lucas arrived at the police station with the lawyer at six o'clock in the morning, he encountered Aiden and David in the lobby.

Seeing him, Aiden said sternly, "Lucas, I know you're here to bail Joseph out, but let me remind you, it's not going to be easy to take Joseph away. You'd better persuade him to tell us where he's hiding Cassie."

"Aiden, I'll do my best." Lucas rubbed his temples and glanced at David.

Although he had never dealt with David before, he had seen him in magazines. The Wit Group had risen rapidly in recent years, even becoming the leading pharmaceutical company, all thanks to David.

David had always appeared gentle and elegant in interviews, but this time, dressed in a black suit, his refined features were tinged with a cold, sinister aura in the dim light.

Lucas had a gut feeling that David was a complex guy.

But after a moment, Lucas looked away and walked inside.

Five minutes later, Joseph was brought into the interrogation room, and Lucas sat across from him.

Their eyes met, and Lucas sighed as he looked at Joseph's bloodshot eyes. "Joseph, do you know how much effort it took for me to see you?"

"The Chamberlain family put pressure from above?" Joseph's voice was somber.

"Yes, the Chamberlain family has now become the top family in Silverwood. Even I don't dare to go against them. This time, I had to ask the Jude family to pull some strings to see you." Lucas's tone was very serious. "If you don't cooperate with me, I can't bail you out."

"Cooperate with you by telling you where Cassie is?" Joseph laughed bitterly.

"You took Cassie away in front of everyone. Now David, Aiden, and the top brass of the Peace Group can't contact her." Lucas sighed again. "Your actions amount to kidnapping. They didn't call the police before, but now, with the Hernandez family in turmoil, David and Aiden have joined forces. They don't fear you anymore."

Joseph pressed his thin lips together and remained silent. He had anticipated all of this while on the island. That was why he had kissed her so painfully, fearing he might never get the chance again.

"Joseph, just tell us. Cassie has been missing for a month. You can't hide her forever. It's harmful to her. Besides, after spending a whole month together after her marriage, do you think her relationship with David can go back to what it was?" Lucas shook his head. "We're all men. This is the barrier in David's heart. Even if he doesn't say it, people online will mock him."

Joseph's eyes softened slightly, and Lucas seized the moment. "And you have to think about the Hernandez family. The Hernandez family is already in shambles. Your grandfather is paralyzed, Liam has been kicked out, Richard has lost his mind, and your mother is divorcing Marcus. Are you going to rely on Celeste and Isaac? They don't have the capability, and you know it."

"Fine, I'll tell you." Joseph closed his eyes, clenched his fists, and finally spoke with difficulty.

Lucas breathed a sigh of relief. "It's good that you've come to your senses. As long as Cassie is alive, you can win her back. But you have to keep the Hernandez family estate, or you won't even be able to fight David."

Joseph's handsome face was filled with confusion. He had always been confident in his intelligence, believing that everything was within his grasp. Even with the chip incident, success had seemed so close, yet it suddenly became the fuse that destroyed everything.

Joseph needed to figure out where he went wrong. Was it Liam?

Should he have never been merciful to Liam from the start, or should he have eliminated the Chamberlain family as soon as he realized Marcus was not simple?

Joseph had been gone for a day from the island.

Logically, Cassie should have been able to get a good night's sleep without being held by Joseph at night.

But she tossed and turned, unable to sleep. She felt uneasy as if something bad was about to happen.

Cassie remembered the strange look in Joseph's eyes when he left last night and how hurriedly he had gone. Had something happened?

Given Joseph's current status, no one could threaten him.

At eight a.m., she sat in the dining room having breakfast. The chef had made many delicious dishes, but after a few bites, she lost her appetite.

After breakfast, she went for a walk outside. By noon, a helicopter suddenly appeared in the distance.

She thought Joseph had returned, surprised at how quickly he came back.

But when the helicopter landed on the lawn, David quickly emerged with his men. He wore only a white shirt, his short black hair slightly tousled by the wind.

His dark eyes fell on Cassie, and a complex array of emotions flashed in their depths before being replaced by overwhelming joy.

"Cassie, I finally found you." David rushed towards Cassie.

Cassie stood in a daze, thinking she was dreaming. When she was first brought here, she had dreamt that David found her.

But she had lost hope over time, never expecting David actually to come.

Before he could get close, the butler and his men blocked Cassie.

"Stop, this is Mrs. Hernandez. No unauthorized persons are allowed near," the butler warned, glaring at David.

"Mrs. Hernandez?" David clenched his fists and sneered, "She is my wife. You'd better step aside. Let me tell you, your master, Joseph, has been arrested."

The butler was stunned, still processing the information, when David's men quickly subdued them.

"Cassie, I missed you so much." David swiftly approached Cassie, gently touching her face.

For the entire month, he had been restless, feeling as if countless insects were gnawing at him, only able to numb himself with alcohol.

But Cassie was different. Her skin was even smoother than before, and her cheeks had grown plumper with baby fat. She must have been eating and living well.

A deep-seated hatred spread within David.

While he suffered, Cassie had been living comfortably on this island with Joseph.

He thought, 'Cassie, how could you be so heartless and shameless? You are still my wife, after all.’

But David didn't voice these thoughts. He pulled Cassie into a tight embrace.

Cassie felt both joy and guilt. Compared to David, she thought she was too impure. Especially being held by David like this, she felt a deep sense of discomfort.

"David, I'm sorry," she said, her face full of pain. "How did you find this place? And you said Joseph is in jail. What happened?"

"You're worried about Joseph?" David's eyes grew cold as he stared intently at her.
