Chapter 916 The Show Tonight Has Just Begun

"Michael, are you an idiot? You told me not to wear nipple covers; how am I supposed to walk out?" Laura gritted her teeth.

"Who are you calling an idiot? Say it again, and I'll throw this thing away!" Michael fumed. He was so intelligent and wise, and yet she kept humiliating him. She was going too far.

"My bad, Michael. Could you please hand me my nipple covers?" Laura changed her tone, smiling. "If you don't want to, I'll have to run out like this and shout that Mr. Jude tried to be disrespectful towards me. There are plenty of reporters outside, and your fiancée Megan is out there too."

"You got it," he then answered.

Michael, completely cornered by her threat, reluctantly picked it up and handed it to her.

Laura looked at his handsome face, now flushed with a pink hue, and felt both speechless and amused. It was just a nipple cover; it shouldn't be such a big deal. "Have you ever been in a romantic relationship before?"

"I haven't been with a woman? Are you joking?" Michael sneered, though he felt utterly insecure inside. After all, it was quite embarrassing for a thirty-year-old man to have never been with a woman.

"So you have been with someone? Who was she? Megan is right outside. Should I go tell her that her fiancé has been with another woman?" Laura smiled sweetly, making Michael feel the urge to punch something.

"Laura, shut up," Michael warned with a stern face.

"I'm just curious. You saw me just now. Was it your first time seeing a woman?" Before Laura could finish her sentence, Michael, unable to bear it any longer, slammed the door and left.

The loud sound of the door slamming made Laura laugh inexplicably.

He was furious out of shame.

No way, he was so pure and innocent. Megan was getting too good a deal with him.

In the banquet hall, Michael downed his drink in one gulp.

Damn it, he didn't know if it was because Laura had angered him or because it was the first time he was in such a situation, but he felt a burning rage in his chest. When he thought about it, it was indeed embarrassing for a grown man to still be a virgin.

"Michael, what's wrong? Are you in a bad mood?" Megan walked over with a look of concern.

"It's all because of Laura," Michael replied irritably. "How can there be such a shameless woman in this world?"

"What did she do?" Megan asked.

"She actually... she... never mind." Michael thought of the scene in the room earlier, a trace of embarrassment crossing his handsome face.

Megan noticed and felt a pang of unease. What could he and Laura have that he couldn't tell her?

Just then, she caught a glimpse of Laura. She was descending the spiral staircase in that elegant red dress.

A flash of annoyance crossed her eyes. Laura had kept her dress the same.

"I'm sorry, Megan. I asked her to change, but she refused," Michael apologized. "I couldn't just strip her clothes off."

"I understand. It's okay. It's just a dress; don't worry about it," Megan reassured him, forcing a smile.

"Hi, Miss Ray, Mr. Jude." Laura suddenly greeted them. "Sorry, I didn't change my dress."

She spoke loudly, drawing the attention of many people in the banquet hall.

"Laura, why would you need to change your dress?" Daniel laughed. "Your dress looks beautiful tonight."

Megan felt a sense of foreboding, and Michael realized it too, immediately warning, "Laura."

"Mr. Jude, I'm sorry. I really didn't know I would be wearing the same color dress as Miss Ray tonight." Laura raised her voice, sounding both scared and aggrieved, making sure everyone around could hear. "The dark green dress you gave me to change into was too small; I couldn't fit into it. Dear Miss Ray, could you please let me know in advance what color of dress you'll be wearing next time? I don't want to wear the same color and get scolded by Mr. Jude again."

Immediately, the people around began to look at Megan with disdain and started to gossip.

"This is so unreasonable. Is she the only one allowed to wear red?" one guy remarked.

"Exactly, just because she doesn't look as good in red as Laura, she makes her change. I never realized she is this kind of person," the other said.

"And Mr. Jude is going too far as well. Laura is the formulator of this product and a major contributor to the Ocean Blue group, yet she gets criticized just for wearing the same color dress as Megan. That's too domineering," someone else added.

Michael and Megan's faces turned red with embarrassment, and Michael wished he could swallow Laura.

Daniel silently cursed himself for asking the question earlier. He quickly tried to shift the topic to the new product, but some words spread like wildfire, and the dress incident soon became the talk of the entire event.

Everyone looked at Megan with contempt.

Megan hated Laura to the core and immediately called Nathan over. "Tonight, no matter what method you use, I want Laura to wish she were dead."

"Megan, don't worry. I've already had something put in Laura's drink," Nathan said with a wicked smile. "Tonight, I'll make sure she suffers on the bed."

"I'm looking forward to your good news," Megan answered and gave Nathan a satisfied look.

At the same time, Lucas walked up to Michael. "I have something to do, so I'll be leaving now."

"Alright, I won't see you off then," Michael said, patting his shoulder.

Lucas gave him a meaningful look. "Michael, it's just a dress. It's not worth to do it."

Michael felt embarrassed by Lucas's remark. "You misunderstand, I..."

"Michael, keep a low profile. Your uncle is in the middle of the election campaign. Don't cause trouble for the Jude family. I'm telling you this as your friend," Lucas said before leaving with Sarah.

In the car, Sarah cautiously observed his expression and then asked, "Lucas, do you think tonight..."

"I didn't expect Megan to be this kind of person," Lucas said, taking out a cigarette and holding it with his attractive lips. "She can't even tolerate someone wearing the same dress. We really didn't know her well before."

"Yeah." Sarah laughed awkwardly, realizing she should keep her distance from Megan in the future.

"With Megan's personality, being with Michael might not be a good thing." Lucas sighed.

At eleven o'clock that night, Laura felt her head getting dizzier. She suspected she had drunk too much and decided to say goodbye and take the elevator upstairs to her room to rest.

But as soon as she stepped out of the elevator, her head spun, and she collapsed to the ground.

Nathan immediately emerged with a wicked grin and scooped Laura up from the floor.

Her delicate waist almost made him lose control on the spot.

"Slut, the show tonight is just beginning. Let's see how I deal with you," Nathan said, pinching her face and carrying her toward the room.

Just as he was about to open the door, he suddenly remembered he had accidentally left his room key on the sofa in the banquet hall.
