Chapter 803

Joseph felt somewhat relieved by what Cassie said.

All along, Joseph understood that he had changed his mind, but because of the past promises and later Megan's return to save him from illness. But he couldn't touch Megan. Therefore, he had always felt guilty towards Megan.

But what Cassie said was right.
They had only dated for a while. Joseph hadn't had a sexual relationship with Megan. He had sincerely wanted to marry Megan before. If it weren't for Rex's involvement, he and Megan would have definitely gotten married.

Joseph admitted that Megan was pitiful, but he wasn't the one who brought her that sad past.

Cassie continued. "I'm not unreasonable. If Megan didn't have anyone by her side, it would be normal for you, as her ex-boyfriend, to help out. But since there is someone there, and Megan has her brother in Whisperlyn City, if you go back, I won't give you another chance."

After saying this, Cassie opened the car door and walked down with Sophia in her arms.

"Alright, I won't go." Seeing Cassie about to leave, Joseph quickly unbuckled his seatbelt and chased after her. He took Sophia from Cassie's arms, looked at her intently, and asked, "Can you give me a chance tonight?"

Joseph started pushing his luck and added. "After all, someone has been watching over me all this time."

"When did I watch over you? I was just speaking the truth." Cassie was a bit annoyed. If she hadn't talked for so long earlier, Joseph would have already run to find Megan, shamelessly speaking now.

"Are you angry? Are you jealous?" Joseph smirked mischievously.

Joseph knew that although Cassie appeared indifferent; she still cared about him in her heart.

"You're overthinking. I just don't want to end up like before, where you kicked me out and divorced me right after sleeping with me, Joseph. I just want security. I don't want always to be the one who gets abandoned at any moment," Cassie said.

After saying this, Cassie walked forward without looking back.

The evening breeze blew Cassie's dark hair, accentuating her delicate curves and stirring a hint of pity in Joseph's heart.

Joseph followed her into the house and placed Sophia on the large bed in Cassie's bedroom.

"I'll directly take Sophia to daycare tomorrow; you don't need to come to pick her up." Cassie tucked Sophia in.

Joseph nodded and glanced around the room, raising his eyebrows mischievously, then asked, "What if I sleep here tonight? I can sleep on the couch."

"Are you dreaming?" Cassie scoffed, sarcastically glanced at Joseph, and then unceremoniously pushed him out of the bedroom. "Laura will come back tonight; you can't sleep here."

"Then can I sleep on the sofa in your bedroom?" Joseph threatened softly. "Aren't you afraid I'll go to the hospital to find Megan?"

Little did he know, this statement completely pissed Cassie off.

"It's your business if you want to go find her. I haven't tied your legs."

This time, Cassie pushed Joseph out of the front door and slammed it shut.

Joseph rubbed his dark hair in frustration.

It was all because of his sharp-tongued; now, he had made Cassie angry again.

As he turned around, he saw Laura coming out of the elevator humming a song.

Their eyes met, and Laura was startled, then inquired, "Joseph, why are you here again?"

Joseph thought, 'What do you mean 'again'?'

Joseph couldn't help feeling uncomfortable, no matter what, about Laura, who always disrupted the atmosphere when he was with Cassie.

"Isn't your studio in Austin? When are you leaving?" Joseph asked expressionlessly.

"Leaving?" Laura was puzzled and then answered, "I don't plan on leaving; I'll stay and work in Whisperlyn City."

The thought of Laura's continuous presence made Joseph feel a headache.

Angry, Joseph said, "Are you going to keep living with Cassie?"

"Of course, we are best friends who depend on each other." she then added.
