Chapter 974 Settling Accounts with Nathan

"Don't worry. It's not a big deal. With it's your legal skills and your financial acumen, you could easily become a big shot here in Silverwood," Noah remarked.

"No, it's not that." Joseph twisted open a bottle of beer and took a big gulp, his eyes reddening again.

Noah was stunned. "What are you doing?"

Noah had known Joseph for over a decade, and it was the first time he had seen Joseph cry. Noah was shocked.

"I've lost the most important thing in my life," Joseph looked up, bitterly saying. "Noah, can you tell me about the past when Cassie and I met and fell in love? I want to know it."

"Sure. Three years ago, when you first came to Silverwood..." Although Noah didn't understand why Joseph suddenly wanted to hear about Cassie, he still started to recount the details.

Until later, Joseph drank himself to sleep.

Joseph called Michael, "How are you guys even friends? Joseph is going through such a big thing. You should spend more time with him. Now he's in Silverwood drowning his sorrows in alcohol."

"Joseph went to Silverwood?" Michael was very unhappy. Michael had just found out this morning that Nathan had instigated Leon to beat up Joseph, and he had been looking for Nathan in Whisperlyn City ever since.

"Yes." Noah sighed. "Michael, I understand you and Joseph have had conflicts because of Megan, but you've known each other for over a decade. No matter what, you've always helped each other out, right?"

"Noah, what do you take me for? Yes, I used to think Joseph was too cold and heartless, but I still know what to do. I'm not his mercenary friend," Michael explained.

"Alright, it's good that you think that way," Noah replied.

After the call, Michael was very angry.

Last time, Nathan drugged Laura, and Michael hadn't even settled that score yet. Now Nathan had come back to bully Joseph again.

Unfortunately, the people over at EchoReach weren't listening to Michael anymore, and he didn't have any capable people on hand, so he had to go find Megan himslef in anger.

As soon as he arrived at Seaside Haven, Michael saw a brand-new sports car parked in the yard, which made him even more upset.

"Michael, why are you here so late?" Megan, dressed in pajamas, walked out.

Megan really didn't want to see Michael at this time. Megan knew that Michael was definitely here because of Nathan. She was almost driven mad by that idiot Nathan, who had exposed himself while using someone else's hand to bully Joseph.

"Megan, I come here for Nathan. Where is he now?" Even facing Megan's seductive appearance, Michael was in no good mood at all. "Have you heard about Joseph being beaten up?"

"Joseph was beaten up?" Megan was shocked, a flash of pain crossing her face. "I didn't know. I've been working at the hospital recently."

Michael said angrily, "Nathan saw Joseph drinking last night and told Leon about it. Leon has a bad relationship with Joseph, so he immediately takes people to beat up Joseph. I really don't understand how you can have such a brother. If it hadn't been for Joseph, Nathan would have been in jail long ago. He is too vicious."

"I'm sorry." Megan looked embarrassed. "After what happened last time, I was so angry that I haven't contacted Nathan. I didn't even answer his calls. Michael, I hate Nathan more than anyone."

"Don't apologize. I'm not mad at you. I just can't understand why Nathan did that." Michael gritted his teeth. "Megan, can you contact Nathan? I want to teach him a lesson. You won't refuse to help me, right?"

"Don't say that. Nathan deserves to be taught a lesson. I'll call him, but I don't know if he'll answer." Megan found Nathan's number and dialed it, but no one answered.

She gritted her teeth and said, "Nathan isn't even answering my calls now. By the way, how is Joseph doing? We've known each other for over a decade. I am worried about him."

"Joseph went to Silverwood." Michael sighed. "I don't know why he suddenly went to Silverwood and drink withNoah."

'Silverwood?'

Megan was very uneasy when she heard it.

Megan remembered that Joseph and Cassie had met in Silverwood. 'Could Joseph be suspecting something?'

"Megan." Michael's voice pulled Megan back to reality. "I just saw a new sports car outside. Did you get a new one?"

"Yes," Megan explained, afraid Michael would think she only cared about money. "I didn't want the old car anymore. I wanted to completely cut off memories of the past."

"I see. Megan, you know, when you and Joseph broke up, he gave you 1.4 billion dollars. Joseph is in a tough spot now, and the Hernandez family really needs money. Could you return some of it to Joseph?" Michael mustered the courage to ask.

If it were any other woman, Michael wouldn't have asked, but in his heart, Megan was someone who valued relationships over money. He thought Megan would agree.

Besides, the breakup fee Joseph gave was indeed a lot. Globally, no man would give his ex-girlfriend so much money without even being married.

"Of course, you don't need to give it all back. Just 800million dollars would be fine. You'll marry me sooner or later, and the Ocean Blue group is doing better and better. We won't lack money in the future. I can completely support you and give you a wealthy life. So can you help the Hernandez family through this tough time? Of course, if Joseph rises again, he will definitely repay you double," Michael said.

With that, Megan felt very uncomfortable.

She said to herself inwardly, 'Give Joseph 800 million dollars? Am I crazy? It's impossible.  Yes, Joseph is indeed capable, but his enemies are too strong and numerous. They won't give Joseph a chance to rise again. If it were the high and mighty Joseph of the past, I would have given it without hesitation. But the current Joseph... Forget it. His net worth isn't even as high as mine. I don't want to have too much contact with him. Only Michael, this fool, still maintains a good relationship with Joseph. If it weren't for the Jude family backing Michael, I would have long latched onto someone with a higher status.'

"Michael, I really want to help Joseph." Megan lowered her eyes, showing a look of regret and helplessness. "The cash Joseph gave me before was put into a fund company, all in three-year closed-end funds. I can't withdraw it. As for the remaining real estate and storefronts, they've been rented out with long-term contracts. If I break the contracts, I'll have to pay high penalties."
