Chapter 1731 The Attentive Elliott
Uriah was completely disheartened.
As she was leaving, Julia said, "By the way, I hope today's conversation stays between us. Otherwise, Uriah, next time the Tovar family gets dividends from the company, it'll be up to me to decide how much."
Uriah's heart skipped a beat. He understood that she not only had informants in the Tovar family but also in other board members' families. "Julia, it seems your so-called resignation is just a facade."
"I will resign. My dad wants to return to the company, and I'm willing to cooperate with his act. But the Jude Group will always be under my control, got it?" Julia said softly.
"Julia, you scare me," Uriah said with a bitter smile and left.
Julia had not only deceived the Jude family but everyone else as well.
At five in the afternoon, Elliott drove to pick up Julia.
It was her first time going to the Miller Manor, and Julia was quite nervous. "Do you think your parents will like me?"
"You're great," Elliott said confidently, holding her hand as if it were the most natural thing in the world. "As long as I'm here."
Though it was just a short sentence, it gave Julia confidence.
Well, she had dared to push for marriage back then, so meeting Elliott's parents shouldn't be a big deal.
Upon arriving at the Miller Manor, Julia glanced at the garden. It wasn't as large as Whispering Pines Manor, but the plants were neatly trimmed.
"This will be your home from now on," Elliott reminded her in a low voice.
Julia looked up at him in surprise.
"If you have kids in the future, living here will be more convenient. There will be people to help take care of them," Elliott added silently, thinking of Maeve as a playmate.
"You think ahead," Julia teased.
"I'm not getting any younger," Elliott reminded her.
Julia fell silent. She was also looking forward to having children.
After they got their marriage certificate, they hadn't taken any precautions, and they'd been quite active recently. Who knows?
She felt a bit lost and subconsciously touched her stomach.
Rose, who had just come out, saw this and exclaimed in shock, "Are you pregnant?"
Julia was puzzled.
Laura, who had come home early from work, heard this and was delighted. "Julia, are you pregnant? That's wonderful."
"Are you having a baby?" Elliott was also taken aback and looked down in confusion, his eyes filled with anticipation.
Julia's mouth twitched. Didn't he know whether she was pregnant or not?
If it weren't her first time at his house, she would have glared at him.
"No, my stomach just felt a bit uncomfortable, so I touched it," she lied casually.
Rose immediately felt disappointed, realizing she had misunderstood.
Although Rose hadn't fully accepted Julia as Elliott's wife yet, she would still welcome her if she were pregnant.
Since moving to Whisperlyn City, many relatives weren't around. If it weren't for Maeve keeping Rose company, it would be quite lonely. That's why she kept urging Elliott to get married.
"You scared me. I thought you two were that efficient," Laura said with a smile.
Elliott frowned and asked in a low voice, "If your stomach is uncomfortable, do you need a check-up?"
"No need, I'm probably just a bit hungry," Julia had to continue her lie.
"Then let's go inside and eat something," Elliott said, thinking she might not have eaten well at work, and led her into the villa.
Julia quickly greeted Rose and Luke, "Hello."
"No need to be so formal. We're already married, so treat my parents as your own," Elliott reminded her, his expressionless face and casual tone making it seem as if he were talking about the weather.
Knowing his personality, Rose, Luke, and Julia all felt awkward in the living room.
Laura rolled her eyes at Elliott and then said with a smile, "Yes, you two are married now."
Luke and Rose felt uncomfortable.
"Julia, when did you and my brother get your marriage certificate?" Laura asked curiously.
"Last week," Elliott quickly answered, fearing Luke and Rose might guess something. He then took a cookie from the plate and opened the package. "Eat something to fill your stomach. Mom, is dinner almost ready?"
Rose looked at her attentive son in disbelief. Was this still her cold-as-ice son? "It's not even six yet, and the kitchen just started cooking."
"I'm not very hungry. A snack will do," Julia quickly took the cookie and ate a piece to appease him.
"Eat it all," Elliott insisted, bringing over a plate of fruit. "Do you want anything else?"
Julia looked at him silently. Was it okay to keep eating as soon as she arrived? Besides, she wasn't exactly a welcome guest. Even though she was a strong woman, she knew when to be low-key.
Seeing her silence, Elliott seemed to understand and began peeling the fruit skillfully.
He remembered she didn't like getting her hands sticky from eating fruit. Some habits never change.
Laura was stunned. She had always thought Elliott treated her well, but now it seemed she was just like a sister he had picked up.
Rose and Luke were also at a loss for words.
After a long pause, Rose forced a smile and said, "Julia, I didn't know you and Elliott were classmates. You never mentioned it."
Julia quickly swallowed the fruit and was about to answer, but Elliott, fearing she might struggle with the question, immediately said, "Mom, I've decided to marry Julia in Austin next month. It's the city where we studied abroad, and I hope you can support us."
The topic changed so quickly that Rose didn't have time to react.
Luke frowned. "Not having the wedding here?"
Elliott said, "That place holds special meaning for Julia and me. I'll arrange plane tickets for you and any relatives who want to attend."
Luke and Rose's expressions were hard to describe.
