Chapter 207
"Cassie, are you insane?"" Olivia retorted sharply, instinctively lunging forward in retaliation.
Joe quickly landed another slap on her other cheek, rendering Olivia speechless with pain.
She glared furiously at Cassie but didn't dare to approach any further.
Cassie sneered, her eyes narrowing, ""I didn't hesitate to hit Robert; you think I'd spare someone like you? Next time, if you can't talk sensibly, I'll keep hitting until you learn.""
After saying this, Cassie shoved Olivia aside and strutted off with a triumphant smirk.
Olivia clutched her swollen cheeks, her eyes blazing with vengeful fire.
""Cassie, just you wait, I'll take you down myself.""
---
It was three in the afternoon.
In the skyscraper's seventeenth floor, a meeting was underway.
The General Manager, Jonathan, sat at the head of the table, flanked by the executives of Peace Group.
Charles commented, ""Mr. Jonathan, with Mrs. Brooks newly in charge, is it really okay to not invite her to the weekly meeting?""
She's nothing special,"" Jonathan scoffed, ""A greenhorn girl who doesn't know jack. Alright, let's begin the meeting. Olivia, have we settled on a contractor for the new building's premium finishings?""
Despite the pain in her face, Olivia Brooks, who had a veil over her face, responded, ""Not yet. The contractors' bids are too steep. Actually, I was considering we could hire a construction crew ourselves. I've drafted some blueprints over the past few days; take a look.""
She handed out the thick stack of blueprints which were well received by everyone.
""This design is creative, sophisticated without being ostentatious, truly tasteful.""
""Did Olivia draft this herself? That's impressive.""
""It's much better than the previous project's designs.""
""...""
Olivia feigned modesty, ""The cost estimate is included. I've worked out that it’ll save us over ten million compared to hiring a contractor.""
Jonathan was full of praise, ""Olivia, excellent work. You must've put a lot of effort into these blueprints.""
""Several sleepless nights, but I'm happy to do it for the company...""
Before she could finish her sentence, the conference room door burst open, and Cassie walked in with a group of people behind her.
""Are we having a meeting? And nobody thought to inform me?""
Cassie sashayed up to Jonathan, unfazed by the charged atmosphere around them.
Jonathan, a smirk plastered across his face yet with a derisive glint in his eyes, said confidently, ""You know, Brooks, you're a bit wet behind the ears. Some matters might just be over your head, that's why I didn't bother calling you.""
The conference room fell into an eerie silence.
Everyone was bracing for Cassie to blow her top and provide them with some entertainment, but she just flashed a serene smile, her pretty features undisturbed. ""Jonathan, I've been here a while now. Aren't you going to offer me a seat, or have you sat so long you've forgotten who owns this place?""
Her smile didn't reach her eyes, which held a frosty sharpness.
Jonathan was visibly discomfited.
Cassie turned to Joe and Locco, ""Seems like Mr. Jonathan has a short memory. Guys, would you mind showing him out?""
Before Jonathan could comprehend what was happening, Joe yanked him off his seat and onto the floor.
Fuming, he barked, ""You—""
