Chapter 534

As Liam sat at the breakfast table, a chuckle escaped his lips. The couple's argument from the previous day was already forgotten, their bond seemingly unscathed. He couldn't help but wonder if it was Joseph's skill in appeasing women or Cassie's talent in charming men that made their relationship so resilient. Indeed, they were a formidable pair.

A sudden question from Walter broke the morning's tranquility. "I heard that the three of you returned home together last night?" he inquired.

Liam nearly choked on his sandwich at the unexpected query.

Joseph cast a sidelong glance at Liam before responding. "Last night, Cassie was missing me. Liam kindly escorted her to find me, and we all shared a late-night snack before returning home."

Before Joseph could finish his sentence, Cassie delivered a swift kick to his shin. Miss him? What a blatant lie.

Joseph winced at the impact, turning to look at Cassie, but she had already averted her gaze, choosing to ignore him.

Walter, oblivious to the younger couple's silent exchange, nodded with a rare sense of satisfaction. "I didn't expect to see you and Liam enjoying a late-night snack together."

Liam snorted dismissively. "It was Sister-in-law who was hungry. I wouldn't have gone otherwise."

Grandma, her eyes twinkling with amusement, couldn't help but express her satisfaction. "It's wonderful to see brothers getting along. It's a rare blessing to have such close family ties."

Joseph and Liam exchanged glances, their expressions dark. They had little interest in this kind of familial bonding.

Once breakfast was over, Cassie addressed their grandmother. "Grandma, Joseph's psychotherapist will be visiting the estate for his treatment. Where do you think would be a suitable place for it? Also, you might remember her. Her name is Megan."

The spoon in Grandma’s hand clattered into her bowl. "Isn't Megan dead?" she exclaimed, her voice filled with excitement.

"She's not dead. She's returned. We were mistaken before," Joseph explained calmly.

Walter frowned at the mention of Megan. He had met her before and his distaste for her surpassed even that for Cassie. "Are there no other psychotherapists in the world? Why must it be her treating you? Find someone else."Grandma nodded in agreement. "Joseph, have you considered how your wife might feel about your ex-girlfriend treating you?"

Cassie breathed a sigh of relief. It seemed that both their grandparents still held a grudge against Megan.

Joseph managed a wry smile. "Lucas informed me that she's currently the top psychotherapist in Austin. We didn't realize it was Megan when we initially invited her."

After a moment of silence, Walter finally nodded. "Alright, but be careful. I don't want you to follow in your mother's footsteps."

"Grandpa, I won't," Joseph assured him, his voice firm.

As Joseph made his way to the company, he dialed Megan's number to inform her about the change in treatment location.

"I had my suspicions," Megan replied. "But your grandparents never liked me. I'm worried that..."

"I've spoken to them. They understand," Joseph reassured her.

"That's good," Megan said, pausing for a moment. "However, I had already prepared a treatment plan. Now that the location has changed, I might need to revise it. So, your recovery might not be as swift as initially expected. I hope you understand."

Joseph's brow furrowed. He had hoped for a quick recovery. However, Cassie's concern about him spending time alone with Megan left him with no other choice. "Alright. Also, are you okay after last night? Why didn't you tell me you didn't have a car? I could have arranged for a driver to take you home."

"Forget it. The kinder you are to me in such situations, the more your wife will misunderstand," Megan replied softly. "I don't want to jeopardize the happiness you've finally found."
