Chapter 927 She Is Going to Marry David
Nathaniel was speechless, silently criticizing Sophia for being quite the troublemaker. Such a tactic would surely drive Miss Brooks crazy.
"Alright, I'll check it out," he said reluctantly.
Nathaniel had no choice but to call the people over at HavenBay. To his surprise, there was no record of Cassie checking into any hotel there.
Could it be that Miss Brooks owned property in that area?
He then called the airport staff, only to find that there was no flight record of Miss Brooks heading to HavenBay. Instead, he discovered that Miss Brooks and Laura had flown to Madison yesterday.
He was suddenly alarmed. What was Miss Brooks doing in Madison at this time while publicly claiming to be on a business trip to HavenBay? Could it be that she had some secret business in Madison and was doing this mainly to hide it from Mr. Hernandez?
The more he thought about it, the more plausible it seemed.
Just as he was lost in thought, Joseph's call came through. "Have you booked the ticket yet?"
"Not yet. I... I couldn't find out where Miss Brooks is staying in HavenBay. She might have private property there." Nathaniel decided to cover for her. "Mr. Hernandez, maybe you shouldn't go. The Peace Group said Miss Brooks would only be on a business trip for two or three days and might be back tomorrow."
"Then I can accompany her back. Never mind, I'll have Wyatt check," Joseph said.
Joseph hung up and immediately called Wyatt. After all, Dragon's intelligence network spanned the globe in some areas.
About half an hour later, Wyatt brought the news. "Mr. Hernandez, the flight information shows that Miss Brooks did not go to HavenBay for a business trip but went to Madison with Laura."
"What is she doing in Madison?" Joseph's eyes darkened. "But why did Nathaniel find that she went to HavenBay?"
"She told the company employees she was going to HavenBay, but she didn't actually go," Wyatt explained. "She has no hotel records in Madison, but her hometown is in Madison. She might be staying at her old residence there."
The more Joseph thought about it, the more puzzled he became. Why would she lie about going to Madison with Laura?
By the way, Liam also took a leave of absence today.
Wasn't it a coincidence that these three people left Whisperlyn City at the same time? But it seemed Aiden was also not around today.
"Check where Liam and Aiden went," he suddenly ordered.
Soon, Wyatt found out about Liam's travel plans. "Mr. Hernandez, Liam, and Aiden also went to Madison."
Sophia said Liam took her to attend a friend's wedding. Sophia wouldn't lie.
Liam, Laura, Cassie, Aiden—what common friend do they have that would require them to attend a wedding?
It made no sense at all.
He suddenly remembered hearing at a recent party that David was getting married, and the bride was said to be a local. He thought, 'Wait a minute, Liam and Aiden don't need to attend David's wedding; they aren't close to David. Unless the bride isn't a local at all, but rather...'
The thought flashed through his mind, and he was filled with panic. "Arrange a private jet for me to Madison immediately."
Wyatt was startled by Joseph's urgency. "But Madison is quite far away, and we need to apply for a flight route."
"I don't care. Use the fastest means possible. I don't care how much it costs; just do it now." Joseph was already frantic.
He hoped that all of this was just his speculation and not real. But what if the person marrying David was really Cassie? The thought of her suddenly marrying someone else caught Joseph completely off guard, and at the same time, it felt as if an invisible force was gripping his heart tightly, causing him immense pain.
It turned out that his feelings for that woman were deeper than he had imagined. Joseph would rather destroy everyone than let her marry another man.
On the way, Joseph frantically called Cassie, but her phone was completely unreachable.
Meanwhile, at the Hernandez Group, when Nathaniel heard about Joseph urgently mobilizing a private jet, he hesitated for a long time before anxiously dialing Cassie's secondary number.
"Nathaniel, what's up?" Cassie asked.
When Cassie's voice came through, Nathaniel smiled bitterly. "Miss Brooks, why did you sneak off to Madison? Mr. Hernandez is suddenly very anxious and is mobilizing a private jet to come find you."
Cassie's bridesmaid, Laura, was so startled that she dropped the high heels she was holding.
"Nathaniel, I'm getting married today," Cassie said softly.
"What?" Nathaniel was so shocked that he jumped out of his chair. "You... who are you marrying? I haven't heard a word about this before."
He slapped his face hard, suspecting he was in a nightmare.
"I'm marrying David," Cassie said gently. "I've been entangled with David and Joseph for so many years. After what happened last time, I realized that David is my Mr. Right. I want to cherish him, but I'm afraid Joseph will find out, so we planned to get married quietly. I guess... Joseph might have sensed something. Even if he hasn't, once he gets here and investigates, he'll find out."
Nathaniel fell silent.
He was so stunned by this explosive news that he didn't know what to say.
"Miss Brooks, you really know how to keep a secret," he said with a bitter smile. "If Mr. Hernandez finds out, he'll go crazy."
He might even do something extremely reckless. The thought of facing a terrifying Mr. Hernandez made Nathaniel shiver; he even wanted to quit his job.
"Miss Brooks, I estimate that even at the fastest speed, Mr. Hernandez will take about two and a half hours to get to Madison," Nathaniel could only remind her.
It was a fact that Cassie and Joseph couldn't reconcile, and he couldn't persuade her otherwise. Besides, Miss Brooks had indeed suffered too much over the years.
"Thank you, Nathaniel." Cassie sincerely thanked him. Over the years, if it hadn't been for Nathaniel's unobtrusive help, she wouldn't have what she had today.
"I won't tell Mr. Hernandez about this, but I think he'll find out once he gets to Madison." Nathaniel hung up the phone after saying that.
In the hotel suite, Laura looked at Cassie with concern. "Oh my gosh! Two and a half hours, Joseph will probably arrive around 12:30 PM. If he comes quickly, the wedding ceremony might not even be over."
"Then let's hold it earlier." David suddenly walked in. "I'll notify the hotel to hold it at 11:28."
Cassie was stunned. "But the guests might not have arrived by then."
"They're just some family members; we can call them and ask them to come earlier," David said, placing his hand gently on her shoulder. "I'll also arrange for some reporters to come. I originally planned to keep it quiet, but since Joseph might have sensed something, let's make it public. I don't believe he would dare to snatch a married woman."
Cassie nodded blankly.
To be honest, Joseph was terrifying, and she didn't know if he would do such a thing.
Laura was frustrated. "You originally planned to announce it after getting pregnant. How did this leak out?"
