Chapter 509

Upon her arrival, Laura ascended the stairs with haste, her eyes landing on the elegantly attired and poised figure of Isla. Yet, upon catching sight of Laura, Isla's composure faltered. "Laura, why are you here? Are you looking for Ben...?"

"I'm here for you." Laura's response was punctuated by a swift, resounding slap to Isla's face.

Laura had harbored the desire to slap Isla for quite some time, but she had never deemed Benjamin, that contemptible cad, worthy of such a confrontation. However, Isla's actions had landed Nina in jail, caused Cassie to be misunderstood by Joseph, and even led to Laura's blacklisting by Michael.

"Isla. What did you say to Olivia? You've ruined everything," Laura demanded, her voice cutting through the air.

Isla proved no match for Laura's fury. Her face rapidly swelled under the barrage of slaps, each one landing with a sharp crack.

The office staff, upon hearing the commotion, rushed to intervene. Yet, their knowledge of Laura's previous friendship with Benjamin held them back, their hesitance allowing Isla to bear the brunt of Laura's wrath.

"Laura. I don't know what you're talking about," Isla protested weakly, her scalp tingling with pain.

"Enough, Isla. Hand over your phone. I'm certain your recent Facebook exchanges with Olivia will prove enlightening," Laura commanded, punctuating her demand with a swift kick.

"Laura, have you lost your mind?" Benjamin's voice echoed from behind, his hands forcefully prying Laura away from Isla.

Caught off guard, Laura stumbled and fell to the ground.

Benjamin immediately rushed to Isla's aid, helping her to her feet. Her face was swollen, her hair in disarray. She clung to him, whimpering, "Benjamin, it hurts."

"I'm sorry I didn't get here sooner," Benjamin murmured, his gaze hardening as he surveyed the scratches marring Isla's face. He turned his icy glare on Laura. "Look at yourself, Laura. You've come to my company to assault Isla. Did you think I would stand by and do nothing?"

"I couldn't care less about your opinion," Laura retorted, her teeth gritted as she rose to her feet. "My greatest regret is ever having loved you. If I hadn't known you, none of this would have happened at the hospital."

"I don't understand what you're saying, but you need to apologize to Isla immediately, or I will call the police," Benjamin threatened, his heart aching at her words.

"Apologize? I haven't hit her nearly enough," Laura retorted, her voice rising in defiance.

Benjamin's anger flared at her words. He reached for his phone to call the police, but Isla quickly intervened. "Laura might just be jealous..."

"Even if she is, she needs to be reprimanded. Look at her, she won't even admit her wrongdoing. Who's to say she won't attack you again?" Benjamin's voice was cold, devoid of mercy.

"Benjamin seems to be very protective of his employees." Elliott's voice cut through the tension, his expression dark. "You would call the police on your ex-girlfriend, a woman you dated for four years, without a second thought. No wonder Laura refuses to be with you."

The office buzzed with whispers as the employees exchanged glances.

"No wonder Laura is so furious. Could it be that Benjamin and Isla are secretly involved?"

"They're always together, aren't they?"

"Did Benjamin cheat on Laura?"

Benjamin's annoyance was palpable as he listened to their murmurs. "Laura is the one who stormed in here and assaulted Isla. Laura and I ended our relationship a long time ago."

"Do you know why she attacked Isla?" Elliott's pointed question caught Benjamin off guard. "Regardless of her reasons, her actions were wrong."
