Chapter 1802 I Love Bernice
Nina's eyes flickered slightly. "Since you can't let me go, why weren't you worried at all when I tried to kill myself? You even came over and said I was no different from other women, and that if I wanted to die, I should do it far away and not bother you. You said you wouldn't feel any pity."
Gary awkwardly wished he could slap his past self. "Bernice, back then, I really thought you were faking it. I'm sorry for the harsh words. I wanted you to give up on me. Being with me and getting my family's support was too hard for you. You were so wonderful, and I felt unworthy of you."
"And now you think you're worthy of me?" Nina asked in surprise.
Gary quickly held her hand and said with deep emotion, "Bernice, I can't forget you, really. Do you remember how happy we were together?"
"Mr. Ross, I heard you have a fiancée. Isn't it inappropriate to hold my friend's hand like this?" Laura appeared beside them with a half-smile, her gaze sharp. "Or do you think my friend is someone you can have an affair with?"
Laura had been around Derek for so long that her aura had become increasingly strong.
Gary wasn't afraid of Laura, but he didn't dare to defy Derek's authority.
"Of course not." Gary didn't let go; instead, he held Nina's hand even tighter. "I never treated Bernice as an affair. When we were together, she was my legitimate girlfriend."
"But you already have a fiancée," Laura said coldly. "So stop bothering Bernice."
"My engagement to Lucy was forced by my family. It was a delaying tactic. I'm working hard now to inherit the Ross family business so I can make my own decisions about my marriage."
Gary's handsome face was full of determination. "I love Bernice. I was too cowardly before, but now I want to fight for her."
"Alright, if you love Bernice so much, then break up with Lucy immediately," Cassie said as she walked over. "If you haven't ended things with Lucy, stop bothering my friend, or you'll be against me."
"And me," Laura added, lifting her chin.
Gary wasn't annoyed; instead, he felt a bit of joy.
The more Laura and Cassie protected Bernice, the closer their bond was.
If he reconciled with Bernice in the future, he might gain access to the power behind these two women.
"I was presumptuous. I'll handle things with Lucy."
Gary looked at Nina with deep emotion. "Bernice, if I break off my engagement with Lucy, would you consider getting back together with me?"
"If what you say is true, I'll think about it." Nina's eyes were filled with a mix of helplessness, frustration, reluctance, and hesitation, showcasing her complex emotions of love and hate. "But your family probably won't accept me, given what happened between Lucas and me."
"You were forced; you were a victim," Gary interrupted. "Besides, you gave your purest self to me. I always remember that. I'm not someone who cares about such things because, in my heart, you are special."
Gary's handsome face was full of tenderness.
Cassie and Laura exchanged a glance.
Sometimes, God is really unfair. He gave Gary a handsome face, a voice that could move women, and high emotional intelligence in relationships.
Many women really couldn't resist someone like Gary.
"Gary, I think Bernice is great," Noe said as he walked over. "Ms. Ramsey's boldness and wisdom are well-known, much better than your fiancée."
"I also think Bernice is wonderful."
Gary's lips curled up, his eyes full of affection.
The group played until about eleven at night.
Derek called Laura.
"My boyfriend is here to pick us up. We'll leave now," Laura said as she stood up to say goodbye to everyone.
"Alright, we'll walk you downstairs," Noe said, his eyes flashing as he quickly stood up.
Laura's boyfriend was the president's son. If he could meet him in Whisperlyn City and add him on Facebook, Noe would return to Silvervale with pride.
"No need," Cassie refused.
"I'll walk you down, just in case there are any drunks in the club."
Gary also offered to escort the three women downstairs.
Downstairs, Derek and Milan were leaning against an Audi, one looking elegant and the other sharp and cold. They stood with their arms crossed, chatting.
Nina and the other two were momentarily stunned.
She hadn't expected Milan to be there.
But before they could greet them, Noe had already stepped forward. "This must be Mr. Jude. You're indeed handsome, and you and Laura make a perfect couple."
Derek looked puzzled.
Laura introduced, "These are Mr. Wallace from Silvervale Quantum Dynamics Corporation and Mr. Ross from Enchanted Forest Group."
"Alright." Derek nodded lightly and then put his arm around Laura's waist. "Let's get in the car."
"Mr. Jude, since we met, can I add you on Facebook?" Noe asked eagerly.
"Sorry, I don't like adding people on Facebook."
Derek opened the passenger door for Laura and then said to Milan, "You take Bernice; I'll take the other two."
"Alright."
Milan glanced at Gary and then unlocked the white Prado parked a bit further back. With a hint of wildness, he nodded at Nina. "Get in."
Gary frowned. "Bernice, if Mr. Jude is inconvenient, why don't I take you home?"
Cassie, who was about to get in the car, turned back and said, "You're engaged. If someone takes a picture of you taking Bernice home, she won't be able to explain it."
"So you have a fiancée," Milan sneered, patting Nina's shoulder. "Get in. I'll take you."
Gary clenched his fists at Milan's disdainful look.
Any man could see that Milan might also be a suitor for Bernice.
But since he could appear with Derek, their relationship was likely good, and his status was probably not ordinary.
"Mr. Ross, Mr. Wallace, thank you for your hospitality tonight," Cassie said as she got in the car, and the two cars drove away together.
Gary's eyes were fixed on the white Prado.
Noe, with a cigarette in his mouth, followed his gaze. "The car is only about four or five hundred thousand dollars, but the license plate is special. He must be someone like Derek."
"Someone with that status wouldn't marry Bernice," Gary said coldly. "It would affect his career. He's probably just playing with her."
"True," Noe said. "So what about you? Are you planning to use her, or are you just playing with her without intending to marry her?"
