"Mr. Hernandez is so tall and commanding. He seems like he's very capable in terms of performance. Miss Roberts must be very pleased."
"Is it possible that Mr. Hernandez is only putting on a front when it comes to his endurance?As the conversation turned to Mr. Hernandez's privacy, Nathaniel looked unhappy."
If they kept on like this, they would have revealed all of Mr. Hernandez's privacy.
"Shut up, stop gossiping about Mr. Hernandez. Do you want to get fired?" Nathaniel warned.
Everyone realized they had gone too far and broke out in a cold sweat.
At that moment, Mabel knocked on the door and walked in, "Where's Joseph?"
"He's in the office." Nathaniel quickly answered, "Mabel, you have to talk to him. Mr. Hernandez has been working hard these days without any break."
After Mabel entered and closed the door, Joseph, who was disturbed, looked at him and asked, "What are you here for?"
“You shouldn't be here all the time. The staff in the secretary department can't work overtime every day. They have families."
Mabel pulled up a chair and sat down. When she saw Joseph's scruffy face, she sighed. She had always believed that Joseph was nothing like her, but now she understood that Joseph was actually very similar to her. Their paths were so alike. "How are things between you and Megan?"
Joseph stayed quiet. Megan had been calling and texting him lately, but he hadn't replied at all.
Frowning, Mabel said, "Although I don't know exactly what happened, you never mentioned planning another wedding with Megan, which means the police were somewhat right. Megan betrayed you."
"I'll handle my own affairs. You don’t have to interfere," Joseph said angrily.
"If she really cheated, our family won't accept her," Mabel said firmly, "I'm speaking from personal experience of infidelity. Joseph, perhaps you never truly understood Megan."
In the past, Joseph would have argued back, but for some reason, at this moment, he found himself agreeing.
How was Megan able to return without any guilt after being intimate with Rex, yet still showing affection towards Joseph? Was Megan simply skilled at hiding and masking her actions?
If Rex hadn't died and had continued to threaten Megan, perhaps she would have ended up sleeping with him even after they got married. Before marriage, Joseph tolerated it because of his involvement with Cassie, but after getting married, no man could tolerate it. What if Megan became pregnant with Rex's child? The more Joseph pondered on it, the more dire the potential outcomes appeared.
Mabel took a deep breath, her voice carrying a hint of bitterness. "Let me give you an example. I used to be confident that I knew Marcus well and even defended him to you. However, in recent years, Marcus has become increasingly disrespectful towards me. Has he changed? Maybe not. Perhaps he has been keeping things hidden all along because the Chamberlain family relies on the support and protection of the Hernandez family. I never truly comprehended him, despite being together for over twenty years. We met in college, but it wasn't until I turned fifty that I started to understand him bit by bit."
Taking a moment to gather her thoughts, Mabel spoke gently, "Don't assume that you know everything about Megan just because you've known her for a long time. If you truly understand her, you'll see that Megan has been involved in inappropriate relationships with other men. Additionally, she was absent for several years overseas. People evolve and change with more life experiences."
