Chapter 965 My Husband

Joseph had thought it over. Whether he could be cured was already uncertain, and it was impossible to find another woman. Why not raise Liam's daughter from now on?

First, it was to repay Liam. Second, Joseph himself quite liked Sophia. Sophia was already an orphan. Although she wasn't Joseph's biological daughter, Joseph was willing to take on the responsibility of being a father.

Cassie was stunned when she heard this.

Whether it was with Cassie or with Megan in the past, Joseph was always the type to cling on and never let go. His obsession with relationships had even become somewhat pathological.

It was very surprising that Joseph suddenly said he would never marry or have children again.

It shouldn't make Joseph so disheartened even if the Hernandez family was in trouble.

Cassie thought, 'Did he the Joseph I know?'

"Let's wait until you settle your lawsuit first," Cassie muttered softly.

"Cassie..." Joseph suddenly called Cassie's name gently.

Cassie felt extremely uncomfortable being called by Joseph in such a soft and hoarse voice.

"Be careful of David," Joseph warned. "He is not as simple as you think."

Cassie's beautiful face immediately turned sullen. "I don't need your warning. If David were simple, he wouldn't have succeeded. Joseph, if you're going to badmouth my husband, then please shut up."

Joseph pondered, 'Your husband...'

Those words pierced Joseph's heart.

Joseph wanted to roar and forbid Cassie from saying such things. However, thinking about his condition, he was no longer confident he could make Cassie happy.

"I'm not trying to sow discord. I'm just worried that David holds a grudge against you and wants to take revenge," Joseph explained.

"Are you crazy?" Cassie was enraged by Joseph. "David loves me very much; he couldn't possibly hate me. But you keep trying to ruin my relationship with him. You must really want us to get divorced. Let me tell you, even if I get divorced, I would never choose you."

Joseph ignored it and continued, "I'll send you a video. It's a video I took on the day we held our wedding on the island. I sent it to David that night."

Cassie's mind exploded, and her body trembled with discomfort. "It can't be... that kind of video, right?"

"You'll know when you see it," Joseph said in a low voice. "Any man would mind it. If David was jealous, that's normal. But if David doesn't mention it and acts generous and forgiving, you should be careful. After all, someone who can endure such things is very terrifying."

"Joseph, you're such a bastard." Cassie's eyes turned red with anger. "You actually recorded a video that night. You're too much. I will never forgive you."

"It doesn't matter. I knew it. I just wanted to remind you. I don't want you to end up like my mom, who was deceived for over twenty years. She always thought Marcus she married was true love, but it was actually a carefully planned scheme by Marcus," Joseph remarked.

"David wasn't someone like that. I'm not your mom. I don't have a wealthy family backing me. He has no reason to harm me," Cassie said.

"He might want your love. Once you fall in love with him, he can take revenge and humiliate you without restraint." Joseph's words sent a shiver down her spine.

"Joseph, I won't fall for your tricks." Cassie hung up the phone.

Back in the room, Cassie lay down with Sophia, but she couldn't calm down.

It wasn't until Sophia fell asleep that Cassie picked up her phone again. Joseph had sent a video.

Cassie put on her headphones and watched it, her face turning red with embarrassment. She was in disbelief.

In the video, the lights were off, and moonlight shone through the window.

Cassie and Joseph were under the covers. Joseph's upper body was exposed. Cassie's hand was tightly wrapped around Joseph's neck.

And Cassie's voice sounded so pleasurable.

Cassie had always thought she was heartbroken and desperate that night, but the video made it seem like she and Joseph were very sweet and she was willing to play along.

'Did David see this video?' Cassie felt deeply ashamed, but when she calmed down, she realized that any man who saw such a video couldn't remain calm.

When Cassie returned, David didn't mention it at all. He even said that it was fine as long as she wasn't voluntary.

Cassie thought David was too generous, so much so that it made her uneasy.

Cassie thought it carefully, 'If I were David, I might overthink and feel hatred, but I might also be so deeply in love that I pretended nothing happened. If it were the latter, that would be my luck. But what if it were the former?'

Even though it was summer, Cassie felt very cold.

The next day, Cassie took Oliver and Sophia downstairs.

In the dining room, David and Aiden were chatting.

The warm sunlight shone on David's gentle face through the floor-to-ceiling windows. Cassie's eyes showed a brief moment of confusion until David called her. "Cassie, breakfast is ready."

David got up and handed breakfast to Oliver and Sophia, thoughtfully giving them their favorite foods. His attentive and gentle manner puzzled Cassie.

Cassie thought, 'Could David really act as if nothing had happened?'

After dropping Oliver and Sophia off at school, Cassie drove to the Peace Group.

Spencer arrived at ten a.m. "You called me over; is there something you need?"

"I wanted to ask how your rehab is going?" Cassie asked with concern.

"Much better. I can basically control it myself now." Spencer sat down on the sofa and poured himself a drink without any restraint.

Cassie glanced at Spencer's broken finger, feeling complicated. "How's your finger?"

"It's fine; I just broke one finger. It's not like I am disabled." Spencer had gone through many hardships in his youth and didn't care about such things anymore. "By the way, I've been looking into the place where Liam disappeared. I think Liam might be dead."

"I suspected that, too," Cassie said, her lips trembling. "I just can't figure out who would want to kill him and how Liam disappeared so quietly."

"But have you considered that there might be internal issues within Dragon?" Spencer suddenly said. "At that time, Dragon's people threw Liam into a secluded alley. I checked it. There are very few people passing by there. Peter and I got there in less than an hour. There was still a pool of blood on the ground, indicating that Liam was seriously injured. There were also drag marks on the ground."
