Chapter 1263: You Can Call Me Cassie

"This ain't a toy, it's for peeing."

Cassie was secretly relieved she had two kids. At least she wouldn't be totally lost dealing with this version of Joseph.

"Oh." Joseph's eyes were wide with curiosity. "I can't hold it anymore. Help me take off my pants."

Cassie just stared.

She looked at Joseph sitting on the bed, way taller than her. She really wanted to tell him he was being inappropriate.

But even if she did, he probably wouldn't get it.

So, Cassie just helped him out.

Even though Cassie and Joseph had been married and, well, done the deed before, looking at Joseph's innocent eyes still made her blush.

After finally finishing up, she said seriously, "From now on, don't call me 'lady.' Just call me Cassie."

Joseph looked confused. "But you're way, way older than me."

Cassie was speechless. Here was a guy in his thirties, shamelessly saying she was much older. "So, how old are you?"

Joseph seriously counted on his fingers, but after a long time, he still couldn't figure it out. Finally, he said, "I'm one year old."

Cassie pressed her temples and told herself to get used to it.

"Joey, go to sleep. It's super late." Cassie pulled the blanket up for him.

"What's my name?" Joseph asked.

Cassie answered, "It's Joey. Your name is Joseph, remember."

"Joseph, my name is Joseph, Joseph." Joseph nodded earnestly and tried hard to remember.

Cassie was stunned. She realized that although Joseph had the intelligence of a two-year-old, he didn't seem dumb. If things kept going like this, with proper guidance, he could slowly get better.

"Good boy, sleep."

"I'm scared." Joseph clung to her. "I want a hug."

Cassie imagined the scene of hugging Sophia to sleep, then replaced Sophia with Joseph's tall body. She shivered but finally lay down on the bed. She held Joseph's head with one hand and gently patted his back with the other until he fell asleep.

Joseph slept soundly, but Cassie couldn't catch a wink.

She finally dozed off around two in the morning and woke up around six.

She gently let go of Joseph, picked up her phone, and found three missed calls from unknown numbers.

She thought for a moment but decided not to call back.

At eight in the morning, Mabel brought Sophia and Oliver to visit Joseph.

"Dad, are you okay?" Sophia walked to the bedside worriedly. "Do you remember me?"

Joseph looked at Sophia in confusion for a while. He tilted his head and pouted, "Sister."

Sophia was instantly stunned. Her dad actually called her sister.

"She's not your sister." Oliver frowned tightly at Joseph.

Joseph scratched the back of his head in confusion. "You're brother."

Oliver was silent.

Although the two kids had heard about his condition from their grandmother on the way, it was still hard for them to accept the reality when they saw it with their own eyes.

Cassie gently patted their shoulders. "Your dad got hurt. You need to take good care of him, okay?"

"Mommy, will dad always be like this?" Sophia was very sad.

Cassie was worried, but she still told the kids, "We'll contact doctors abroad and hope he gets better soon."

"Okay," Sophia sniffled. "I'll just think of him as another little brother."

Cassie felt totally helpless. Just then, her phone rang. It was an unknown number.

She grabbed the phone and stepped outside. "Hello, who’s this?"

"This is Declan." The voice on the other end was cold.

Cassie was taken aback for a moment and frowned. "Declan, what's up?"

"Everett went missing yesterday," Declan's tone was sharp. "We haven't been able to reach him, not even his assistant. I checked his call records, and the last person he contacted in Madison was you. Does his disappearance have anything to do with you?"

Cassie felt a headache coming on.

Too much had happened from last night to today, and she hadn't even had time to process it all.

Now Declan was saying Everett was missing, and from his tone, he was very suspicious of her.

"I only know he called me the night before last, and then I never heard from him again," Cassie said truthfully. "Declan, I can barely take care of myself right now. How would I have the time to make Everett disappear?"

"You even dared to disable the bodyguards I brought, let alone Everett. Everett went out with his assistant yesterday morning, and it would be a piece of cake for Dragon's people to deal with him." Declan was fuming.

He was usually very strict with Everett, but Everett was his only son. He had high hopes for him.

Moreover, he couldn't believe that someone would dare to harm Everett on Madison's turf.

This completely crossed his bottom line.

"Cassie, you should know, I'm looking for you because you have a motive."

Cassie took a deep breath. How could she possibly harm Everett? Everett was her own brother. Of course, even if she told Declan, he wouldn't believe it.

"Declan, if I did it, I would admit it. I would even threaten you on this call. I would say if you don't leave Madison with Isabella and Olivia and promise to return the Hernandez Group to us, I would tear Everett apart. But I didn't kidnap him, so I can't threaten you."

Cassie said in a low voice, "And you can ask around. Joseph had an accident last night, and now he's become an idiot. How would I have the time to mess with Everett?"

Declan was shocked. "Joseph became an idiot?"

"Would I lie to you about something like this?" Cassie was also annoyed. But the more annoyed she was, the more she told herself to stay calm.

"Alright, then tell me, why did Everett contact you the night before last? Cassie, we have no other enemies in Madison besides you and Joseph."

Cassie thought for a moment and asked, "Declan, is there anyone else around you?"

"No."

Cassie decided to tell the truth. "I told him Olivia and Robert are not good people. You might think I'm trying to sow discord, but you are outsiders. You heard almost everything from Olivia and Robert, probably all bad things about me. Everett didn't really believe me, so I told him to go to Silverwood and find out about Olivia. To be honest, many people in the Silverwood elite circle know about Olivia's dirty deeds. I guess Everett went to Silverwood to investigate."

"I'll check if Everett went to Silverwood, but if I find out you're involved in this, Cassie, I'll make Madison pay for it." Declan threatened her in an icy tone.
