Chapter 1117 A Severe Blow
Joseph and Cassie have been the town's hot topic, almost like A-list celebs.
As soon as he posted on WhatsApp, comments flooded in:
[Is this a reunion announcement?]
[The long love saga just ended, and it feels weird.]
[Ended? David and Cassie aren't even divorced yet. Heard David's refusing, might go to court.]
[Mr. Hernandez, cherish Cassie. Don't be indecisive again.]
[Mr. Hernandez is impotent, but Cassie still wants him. That's true love.]
Joseph was enjoying the comments when Michael messaged: [Joseph, you're so cheesy. It's making me sick.]
Joseph's face darkened: [Come on, single man!]
Michael: [You look down on me? I'm single, but at least I have a kid.]
Joseph: [True, your child probably won't see you as his father.]
Michael went silent.
Even Noah, who hadn't spoken in ages, chimed in: [Cassie must've given in to your pestering. Joseph, if you bully her again, I'll beat you up, friend or not.]
Joseph's face turned black: [Watch your words. She's mine now, none of your business.]
Noah: [I bet Cassie would agree with me.]
Lucas: [The group's lively today. Even Noah's here. Thought you'd never message again.]
Noah: [Chatting with you guys lowers my IQ.]
Lucas sneered: [Noah, stop or I'll kick your ass!]
Michael: [You want a beating, huh?]
Noah: [Am I wrong? For three years, I've watched you guys get played by Megan, treating her like gold.]
Lucas: [I'm off for surgery.]
Michael: [My butt hurts. I'm taking a break.]
Joseph: [I'm going to sleep with Cassie. Have fun.]
Joseph put down his phone, feeling down. He never thought Lucas and Michael would get mocked by Noah.
To lift his mood, he turned to Cassie.
But he couldn't control himself.
Cassie, half-asleep, felt suffocated, like a puppy nuzzling her.
She opened her eyes to Joseph's warm lips. His passion made her feel hot too.
"Joseph, weren't you going to nap?" she gritted her teeth, still groggy and powerless.
"I wanted to, but I just want to kiss you. Once I start, I can't stop. Cassie, let me kiss you. It's been a while." Joseph's voice was husky and alluring.
Cassie, dizzy from his coaxing and too lazy to move, let him be.
Fifty minutes later, Cassie, face blushed, came out of the shower.
Joseph lay on the bed, looking at her lazily. "Why are you showering in the middle of the afternoon?"
Cassie glared at him. "Because of you. I'm all sweaty."
"Really?" Joseph, with a smirk, jumped off the bed and scooped her up.
Cassie, startled, wrapped her arms around his neck. "Joey, what are you doing? Put me down."
Joseph kissed her forcefully. "Cassie, even though my condition hasn't improved, I'll do my best to make you happy. How was it just now?"
Cassie turned away, her face even redder.
"If you don't say anything, I'll take it as a yes," Joseph said with a half-smile.
"Joseph, are you done?" Cassie was angry.
"Not done," Joseph held her tightly, his voice muffled. "I just want to be with you all afternoon."
Cassie leaned against his chest. Despite recent troubles, being with him made her feel better.
But the peace was interrupted by a call from Laura. "Cassie, are you doing something indecent with Joseph?"
Even without the speaker on, Joseph could hear it.
Cassie's body stiffened, suspecting Laura had some surveillance. Laura continued, "Why haven't you replied to my messages?"
Cassie sighed in relief and checked her messages. Laura had indeed sent some earlier, but she and Joseph were kissing at the time.
Her face heated up. "No, I was taking a nap."
Joseph gave her a suggestive smile.
Cassie rolled her eyes at him.
Laura asked, "You weren't napping with Joseph, were you?"
"No," Cassie denied, embarrassed.
Laura added, "I called because I saw Joseph's WhatsApp post. Are you announcing your reconciliation?"
Cassie looked puzzled. "What? I haven't seen it."
"You don't know? Joseph's post was so cheesy. Congrats on getting back together."
Joseph frowned, about to speak, but Cassie covered his mouth. "Alright, I'll check it out later."
"By the way," Laura lowered her voice, gossiping, "you're really soft-hearted. He's impotent, and you still got back with him."
Cassie regretted covering Joseph's mouth earlier.
Joseph stayed quiet, looking at Cassie, waiting for her answer.
Cassie said, "I'm not that concerned about that."
"Who can stand a life without that? Want me to send you some good stuff?" Laura laughed suggestively.
"Stop, see you." Cassie couldn't listen anymore and hung up.
After hanging up, the air was awkward. Joseph kept his eyes downcast, looking like he'd been dealt a severe blow.
