Chapter 1244 She Is Her Own Mother

Even after twenty years, Cassie had grown up, but damn, she was even more stunning and irresistible now.

Isabella wasn't gonna miss that.

A loud smack echoed as Isabella's hand connected with Cassie's face, sending her sprawling onto the couch.

Cassie was in total shock, her mind spinning.

She'd just been thinking that this woman might be the one Aiden had run into, maybe even her real mom. But before she could say anything, the woman slapped her.

If it had been anyone else, she wouldn't have cared as much. But this might be her mom.

Even though Isabella hadn't been around when she was a kid, Cassie had heard stories about her.

She looked up to Isabella and had even daydreamed about meeting her, wondering if Isabella would be happy and excited.

She never thought their first meeting would be a slap in the face.

"Trying to steal my husband? Guess you don't need that pretty face anymore." Isabella grabbed the hot coffee from the table, ready to throw it at Cassie.

Declan jumped in, grabbing her wrist. "Stop. I was just talking to her, it's not what you think."

"Declan, remember what I told you a few days ago? And now you're sneaking around with her again." Isabella's eyes were wild with anger. "You just love young, pretty girls, huh? If you like her so much, why don't you just be with her?"

Declan stared at her angry, twisted face, feeling like he didn't even know her. Isabella had never been like this before.

"Isabella, calm down, please. Nothing's going on between us, and I didn't come here alone."

"Yeah, you didn't come alone. You brought bodyguards and assistants. Declan, let go. If you're really innocent, let me teach her a lesson." Isabella struggled with the hot coffee, fighting Declan.

They wrestled, and suddenly the coffee spilled, some of it splashing on Isabella's hand, turning it red from the burn.

Declan's heart ached, and he quickly let go.

Isabella took the chance to throw the coffee at Cassie.

Luckily, Cassie reacted fast, grabbing a menu to block it, but some still hit her leg, burning her.

But the physical pain was nothing compared to the hurt in her heart.

She almost found it funny. 'Is this my mom, Isabella? No way. My mom wouldn't act like a crazy person.'

"Cassie, you okay?" Declan was shocked, not expecting Isabella to go that far.

"Declan, you still care about her? Go to hell." Isabella, in a rage, threw the cup at him.

The restaurant was in chaos, and Everett, who had just come out of the restroom, was stunned by the scene.

"Mom, what are you doing?" He rushed over to hold Isabella.

"Everett, let go of me. You hooked up with this little bitch behind my back. You should know my history with Cassie." Isabella was so mad she blurted out everything.

Cassie's mind went blank. 'She said she has a history with me? What kind of history? Did she know all along that I'm her daughter?'

Everett was shocked by what he heard, thinking Isabella was really losing it.

He said, "Mom, chill. Cassie’s just a friend. She came to me for something, and I’m here with Dad today."

"Covering for your dad now?" Isabella scoffed. "And you call her a friend? You’re all under her spell. Everett, you’re such a letdown."

Everett bit his lip, frustrated.

How did he mess this up?

"Mom, I swear, Dad’s got nothing going on with her. He’s all about you."

"You’re just backing up your dad and this girl. No wonder we couldn’t take down the Hernandez group last time. You couldn’t stand to hurt her, right?" Isabella was beyond distrustful now.

"What’s she talking about?" Cassie looked at Everett, confused. "What’s this about the Hernandez group?"

Everett felt a wave of embarrassment wash over him.

Isabella, catching Cassie’s words, yanked Everett to her side and sneered, "Didn’t Everett tell you? The last time the Hernandez group got investigated, it was all him and Declan. I ordered them to bring down the Hernandez group."

Cassie’s face went pale. She looked at Everett, then at Declan, whose face had turned dark.

Was the force behind Olivia that had been targeting her and Joseph the Wittelsbach family? She had no clue, foolishly treating Everett like a brother, a friend, and even hoping Declan could save Joseph’s life?

What was she even doing?

She felt like a complete idiot.

And why did Isabella hate her so much? She was her mother.

Everett saw her devastated look, feeling a surge of guilt, but with Isabella there, he didn’t want to make things worse, so he forced himself to say, "Mom, you’ve got it all wrong. I knew she was Cassie a long time ago. I got close to her on purpose to gather info."

"It’s really not what you think," Declan tried to calm Isabella down, not wanting things to blow up more. He knew if he said he thought Cassie was a good person, it’d only make things worse. "Isabella, don’t you get my feelings for you? She’s young enough to be my daughter. Everett came with me today; he just went to the restroom."

"Really?" Isabella still wasn’t buying it. "Everett got close to her for info, so why did you get close to her? For info too?"

Declan’s face turned ashen.

He’d lived over forty years, and this was the first time he felt so humiliated, especially with Cassie standing right there.

"Well, stop grilling them." Cassie laughed bitterly, her eyes red.

These days, she’d been such a fool. "There’s really nothing between Declan and me. I just thought from Everett’s tone that he had some pull and could help the Hernandez group, so I asked him for help, but he shot me down."

Declan looked at her, surprised.

Cassie was smiling, but it made everyone feel a sense of sorrow and pity.

"Can I ask, are you Isabella?" She suddenly looked at the woman who hated her and asked softly.

Isabella answered coldly, "Yeah, I am. Don’t think you can get close to me. If I had a choice, I wouldn’t want anything to do with you at all."
